So if you can stomach the high price and are looking for an audible step up, the Shure SE535s sound like nirvana and there’s a lot of the fun in trying to find what’s been hiding in your music.

  • +

Really good sound, Removable cables, Good selection of add-ons, Little to no microphonics

  • -

Really high price, Not the most comfortable earphones at this price

Shure SE535 Review I would kindly like to thank Avitel.pt for supplying me with this sample for review, they are Shure’s distributers in Portugal, I will try and write as honest a review possible.

Shure’s efforts to evolve ergonomically correct and excellent sounding headphones have born some delicious fruit with this line-up. All of these headphones fit extremely well in the ear and are very secure on the head. The build quality and features are excellent across the board.

{{article.attachments['Shure-SE535-vanity-120.jpg']}} • Very, very durable for a set of in-ears. Tour The Shure SE535s are a set of high-end in-ears. They feature detatchable ear buds, which either allow the addition of in-line accessories or allow users to replace a broken cable.

Shure’s SE535V+BT1 earbuds may be prohibitively expensive, but their rich sound, repairability, and ability to be modified to meet your individual needs place them among the finest earphones we’ve had the opportunity to use.

  • +

Incredible sound quality, Thick cables prevent tangling and microphonics, Outstanding passive noise cancellation, Comfortable to wear for long listening sessions

  • -

Prohibitively expensive for most people, Reveal the flaws in low quality recordings and streaming music, More difficult to insert into ears than the competition

The Shure SE535 isn’t a new earphone – it’s been on the market for six years. During that time, though, it has remained a popular choice for anyone searching around the $499 price point. How good does it sound, though? And is it the right in-ear headphone for you?

Asking me to tell you what the best headphones are is like asking WeRateDogs to pick its favorite canine. In both cases, there’s far too much variety, diversity, and idiosyncratic charm to crown just one specimen as the very finest.

  • +

Splendid bass, Faultlessly realistic sound, Very light and comfortable to wear, Cable is resistant to tangling and replaceable

  • -

Transparency of the sound exposes poorly recorded music, Cost means you can’t toss these around like any old pair of buds, Need good equipment to get the most out of them, No in-line microphone or remote on default cable

Listening to the Shure SE535 was a revelatory experience. In comparison to a high performing earphone such as the B&W C5, the Shure SE535 showed there was more to be heard and more enjoyment to be had in the music.

The SE535 is, on the whole, a better earphone than the outgoing SE530 model, but sets such as the Westone 4 are quick to point out its remaining deficiencies

  • +

Top-notch build quality, well-accessorized, performance improved over SE530

  • -

    Detachable cable can be unwieldy

You can't go wrong with Shure's SE420 earphones, despite their high price tag--unless you have the money to buy the SE530s, their more expensive cousins.

  • +

The Shure SE420 earphones offer high-quality sound from a dual-driver design. They come with a nice compliment of accessories, and the eartips block out a lot of ambient noise.

  • -

The Shure SE420s are expensive, and are a tad large for earbuds. For such pricey 'buds, the SE420s are also a bit bass-shy. Some people might not like the feel of the earplug-like fit.

I think the SE535's are well on the other side of the boundary between earphones and in-ear-monitors. Other reviews suggested these Shures would reveal source limitations - I have found that to be true.

  • +

Accuracy and sound quality - no noticeable coloration. The sound loosens up once you've got a few hours on them. Interchangeable wire allows you to use custom wire or Shure's Bluetooth cable.

  • -

Be prepared to hear whether your favorite music was really well recorded, or not. Um, kind of fussy over the ear wires - which I'm getting used to now.

Upgraded from the SE425 to SE535 and didn't realize just how much I was missing. Goes toe-to-toe on bass with Bose in-ear headphones plus sounds better overall.

I lost my 425 and thought this would be a good replacement. It is good, but the price difference is definitely not justified. And I preferred bass of 425 more. Oh well. Plus, the special "red" version cable is relatively flimsy and does not go behind your neck as in 425.

The sound is fairly what I expected to be. They do most types of music well, but you have to play around with ear tip sizing to get the best sound along with adjusting your equalizer a little for ones taste. Everyone hearing is a bit different so what works for one may not work for others.

. If you think you heard everything in your songs, think again. Shure 535 deliver a sharp, crystal sound so you might hear new instruments or sounds in the background of your favourite songs that you didn't hear before, depends of the quality of the songs. Great quality build also .

Bought a second pair of 535’s to replace a lost pair. I’ve been using them for the past 3 years and they’ve been totally reliable, and sound quality is great for the price.
