The Shure SE425 earphones have a fairly flat reproduction suitable for professional applications. They offer strong sound-isolation. If you don't mind the over-the-ear cable design, then you will find plenty to love with the SE425s.

  • +

Balanced, clear reproduction Replaceable cables Ergonomic design Strong sound isolation

  • -

Over-the-ear cable positioning won't please everyone

The near-flat response of the Shure SE425 will appeal to audiophiles looking for a hint of added low-end, but booming bass addicts should look elsewhere.

  • +

High quality, flat-response audio performance. Detachable cable can be replaced, rather buying a new pair of earphones.

  • -

Fit can be tricky to secure at first. Not for bass lovers.

The Shure SE425 sound-isolating earphones are an excellent choice for eclectic listeners who demand stellar audio and a high-quality design.

  • +

The Shure SE425 earphones provide fantastic audio quality and a durable design. The package includes useful extras such as a case, a quarter-inch adapter, and the Shure Fit Kit.

  • -

The Shure SE425 earphones will not fit all users comfortably, and they take some effort to put on. Shure has eliminated its modular cable design.

Shure SE425 Review I would like to thank Shure for sending me this pair of SE425 to review. I will try and write as honest a review as possible. I am by no means an audiophile, I love my music and I like to enjoy it through good headphones and speakers.

Can the Shure SE425 buck the trend by performing far better than they look?

The SE425s may not be the best sounding earphones in Shure’s line-up, but they’re almost certainly the best value. The audio quality offered by the dual-driver design is nothing short of astounding, and coupled with the excellent build quality, makes the SE425s an almost irresistible set of...

I finally broke my Shure E3C earbuds after almost seven years of faithful service. I crazy glued the stem back onto the earbud and the buds still work, but I felt nervous about the stem breaking again and getting stuck in my ear.

  • +

Bass and treble response; secure fit; awesome sound isolation. Strong warranty. Almost audiophile performance (but not quite).

  • -

Foam sleeves hard to remove. Proper insert is a two-hand task.

Not as much bass as with my SE215's, even with the same size foam tips - frankly, sort of disappointing considering the price difference between the two pairs.

  • +

    Good clarity on mids

  • -

    Weak bass

I use these for music listening and for field monitoring.I bought them, in part, based on the Shure reputation for design, ruggedness, and accuracy. When I first received and tried these I did not like them. They fit poorly and the sound was very thin and lacking in bass and definition.

Very happy with my new SE-425's, the bass is there. The Clarity is awesome, horns sound like should, vocals are awesome as the drums are also!

Wonderful fit and amazing sound quality. Sleek design I can't get enough of these things. Can't wait to use them during my next live set.

I love listening to my iPod through my earphones, and I have a thing for high quality earphones. I always try to go out of my way to get myself high quality earphones, despite their high prices.

The bass, I found was slightly lacking since I'm used to the more bass heavy Yamaha EPH-100. Nonetheless, it was sufficient, clear and vibrant. Everything else is pristine. Good soundstage n all. A good burn-in of around 6-10 hrs will get you used to the sound. Still wish for more bass :p

So, I purchased these as a backup pair for my honeymoon. I've used countless in ears and I must say these are, well, thin. Harsh sounding and really just a waste of money. I played these through my questyle qp1r (which in my opinion, is a game-changer in the dap world) listening to lossless 16 or 24...

I've owned some hi-end IEMs over the years. Bose & B&O A8s to name drop some. However the SE425s are by far & away the Best I've owned. The sound is every bit as good as advertised, when linked to my Astel Kern Jnr. What makes these special is some one has put a lot of effort into the fit & comfort.
