The Shure M44G scratch/club cartridge offers the same low record wear found in the M447. It differs from its brother in that it is a little less skip resistant, but has a more balanced output with better sound quality. Because of this, the Shure M44G is ideal for both club and skratch DJs.
The king of scratch cartridges. The Shure M44-7 's high price tag is worth it for its great performance. If set up porperly and broken in, these cartridges almost never skip. The Shure M44-7 also boasts a low tracking force, which translates into minimum record wear.
washer too big, which made assembly frustfrating
My preferred cart for Technics SL 1200.
Easy going exactly what I ordered
Changed out the stock needle on my Audio Technica turntable with this. What a huge difference..more bass, more treble.
In my many years of turntablism, this cartridge has always been good to me and has set the bar for performance and craftsmanship. If you are serious about wax, and/or want to invest in a cartridge/stylus that will perform well on all levels, this is a no-brainer and is worth every penny.
Ive had this cartridge for a year and its been ok but its always annoyed me how it tracks so badly. Its not usually a problem with older albums, but newer ones which have a lot more low frequency information. Any kick drum beate or bass with a lot of punch would end up popping it out of the groove.
If you are old school beat-matchin' and aren't fond of scratchin' or ruining your precious vinyl..and want the best sound possible..a pair of these will serve you well. Shure has been in this business a long time for a reason. Don't be seduced by the slick look of the Concorde..buy quality.
Great sound and versatility; lives up to its reputation.
Great mid-range cartridge
I love the M44-7! This was the first "aftermarket" needle I've bought (yes, I'm calling it a needle; relax nerds), and I am very impressed. I just ordered another one for my other player! No skips no matter how hard the platter is tapped!
