For roughly the same price as an SM57, you can have a dedicated guitar amp microphone. It's not the workhorse that the 57 is, but if you're completely aware of what you want to mic things up with, you shouldn't have to worry about not having an ideal microphone anyway.
This mic delivers. Plain and simple. I have recorded several times with it straight into GarageBand, with all sorts of mic placements on my 1x12 guitar cab, and the tones are dynamic in range without being shrill or thin. Affordable German sound engineering: get it!
I play in an R&B band and needed to fix cross-bleed from the snare and bass guitar. This microphone does a wonderful job in helping with that. The sound guy said that he had to tame it down from the old 57 that it replaced. I'm going to have an Iron City and think about what the heck he meant. Not.
Used this mic for the first time this weekend, was awesome. Nice microphone for guitar amp. The low-profile design makes it easy to place the mic right in the sweet spot of the amp. Nice clear, clean tone. Very happy with the purchase.
I use this mic to record my guitar amp simply by draping it over the top. My amp sits next to a very big Bonham type drum kit with a very Bonham like basher behind the kit. Very little drum signal shows up in the guitar track and this mic picks up exactly what is coming from the amp.
Easy to use and bright tone.
I use this mic for my harp amp, Love it!
Awesome product for the home studio, or anywhere you want to mic your cabinet.
Nice mic! Great sound .
Because it has roughly in the same frequency range as snare drum, it has so small of a footprint, and it is extremely directional, this does make a decent snare drum mike. Just stick it pointing straight down at the 12 o'clock position on your snare behind the rack tom where you'll never hit it with...
I have a variety of situations that require a side address mic. I bought two, as I often have to mic two guitar amps. I have a concert coming up where I have to mic two harmoniums.
