Made the switch from dynamic microphone to condenser microphone for my voice-overs. This is a one-and-forever microphone. Rejects a lot of ambient room noise because it is so focused and produces a warm / round / full / in-your-face kind of sound that is necessary to cut thru certain mixes -...

Still great for boom work and for voice overs as well. The only situation when some other models perform better is in extremely reverberant rooms and when the rear end of 416 is very close to reflective ceiling.

When I purchased this microphone, I was leaving the Audio Technica at897 and the Rode NTG-2. The gain is unbelievable, and definitely a keeper. Price is steep, but Built like a brick and ready for prime time.

After reading every other review on this mic for use in a voice over studio, I bought one ofr myself. This mic is fantastic! Opening the box with some ceremony and replacing my Neumann with the 416, I was amazed at its clarity and smooth sound!

The MKH 416 is very clear and clean with awesome sensitivity for low to high frequencies. I love this mic.

Before you buy any microphone for this kind of money you need to do your research. There's a reason this shotgun mic is so expensive, it's highly directional and has a great pick-up range. The mic sounds much more warm and full than other, less expensive alternatives.

Leaves up to its expectations. Captures human voice with a deep velvety elegance. Miles ahead of any law mics we used (though we havent used any high-end laws.)

I have used this microphone for videos and haven’t had the need to edit the audio.

I bit the bullet and purchased this mic as a result of rave reviews to use for several days of filming events that I cannot mic the participants. My hope was that I could be far enough away in case I could not set up close, to capture decent audio.
