I had a Rycote wind-muff and decided to try the Sennheiser. It fits much better that the Rycote, and is a hard inner shell covered by the outer fuzzy layer. The hard inner shell provides protection the the microphone, which is an advantage for me since I put it in a waist pack while recording...
A fine quality mic - have used it effectively with my students who've needed to video record singing for college screenings. It helps focus the important sounds very nicely.
5 years with this MIC without any problem. I already use it with Canon 5D Mark3 and now I use it with Gopro Hero 6. I can say that its good Mic but not perfect.
I have to say this mic did wonders for the audio of my camcorder. I recorded 2 hours of footage today using this and was very pleased with the sound.
Bought for using with my D800. Built well. Works good, as expected. Tested this weekend on the shore with MZW400 Wind-m@ff in mild wind conditions no noise, zero. I took one star for two reasons.
The last thing I want on top of my DSLR is a huge unwieldy mic setup with all sorts of rubber bands, brackets, etc. This fits the build nicely and won't fall apart like another brand I bought earlier. The only thing I don't understand is why the indicator light doesn't stay on while it's on.
Excellent little mic, low end drops of faster than I like but that's good for masking handling noise ... always a trade off. Sennheiser comes thru again. I use it on my Canon 6D
Great size and weight and overall sound quality, but the self noise 'hiss' is pretty loud. Easily fixable, but annoying.
