The Sennheiser HD 600 has been a popular enclosed hi-fi classic from the German manufacturer for over 20 years. The headphones are now available in an updated edition. Read for yourself how the new version performed in our test.
A perfectly neutral sound recommends itself to serious, critical listeners. But what if you’re tastes center around a specific genre of music? If you’ve been eyeing the HD600, and you prefer rock, hip hop, or EDM, you may also want to consider the more “fun” sounding HD650, or the hi-res HD700.
The Sennheiser HD 600 headphones are a good choice for home listening if you're willing to pay for high-quality sound.

Sennheiser's high-end open-air headphones deliver deep bass, luxuriously padded ear cups, and a replaceable cord for a more economical price than their flagship model.

Expensive; not the best solution for portable listening; gray and black plastic finish doesn't scream high end.
The Sennheiser HD 600’s are truly an amazing set of cans any way you dice it. They sound great with virtually anything you attach to them but reach their full potential with the best electronics unlike any other headphones I have listened too.

Phenomenal fidelity, Unparalleled comfort, Works well with a variety of sources

Big and bulky, Too nice for a travel companion
The Sennheiser HD 600 are good critical listening headphones not meant for other use cases. They're decently comfortable and have an ab...
Yup, I'll say it, one of the worlds greatest headphones.
Sometimes, the only thing that'll soothe the cares and lift the thoughts of man is kicking back and letting glorious music wash over you. Isn't that why we're all here? But no sooner do you sit yourself down in the sweet spot and cue up, say, Mozart's 40th, than you hear:Duh-da-dee duh-da-dee...
The HD600 headphones are Sennheiser's flagship open-backed model, representing the state of the art in conventional moving-coil transducer design. The diaphragm design minimises standing waves, thereby reducing distortion, and is driven by an extremely lightweight aluminium voice coil to provide the...
The excellent dynamics and lively sound of this practical model can't quite match the detail of better headphones

Lively, broad dynamics

Not the most detailed treble
Despite the fact that these cans have been on the market for 20 years, they still set the benchmark for mid-priced audiophile headphones. They excel in many areas, including a vast soundstage, pin-point imaging, gobs of detail, and tonal neutrality.
Well I have been using Yamaha hs8 for about 10 years, great sounding speakers for the price especially when you have learned them. My issue has always been the room. Even treating the room the best you can, the shape of the room, the height of ceilings, windows is a problem as I have a wall full in...
I've been wanting these for quite some time. I'm getting a bit older, OK a lot older, so I don't think the HD600s would be the R&b listeners may not care for them. They to me a smooth curve thru out the frequencies. No "booming bass".
Sennhieser NEVER discontinue this headphone! Paired with a good headphone amplifier these are still one of the best I have ever heard!. Even my planar magnetic headphones sometimes struggle to deliver such accurate and beautiful sound quality!
I've had enough of all these reviews saying how great these phones are. They aren't. They are not uncomfortable, have a reasonable level of detail, and convey timbre well (you will get the feel of the insrtument) but that is not music. They have poor timing.

Timbre, detail. Comfort ok (for me at least)

Timing. Music. Failure to convey any sense of a musical whole.
I never mixed with headphones before because it just sounded so odd when I tried. I was told to try these and it really helps - it is as comfortable as with real speakers - You can make eq and balance decisions with them. Great for low end listening where most home studio monitors fail.
You can't go wrong having these headphones in your collection. They really open up mixes and gives the music space that closed back headphones just don't give you. Deciding between these and the 650's really comes down to your application.
I purchased the Sennheiser HD600 after researching headphones on the net. I wanted a well made, comfortable, and sonically accurate headphone that I could connect to my Onkyo receiver. This unit is very impressive and does not disappoint.
I have owned these headphones for probably two years. They are very well likely my most prized possession and this review could be summarized in one word- perfect, but I won't write that, because they're not.

-Your speakers will hate you when you spend less time with them and more time with cans.
Absolutely fantastic performance and comfort! I'm getting ready to make replacement cables in balanced mode... as a headphone amplifier is a requirement (or at least a device that will drive high impedance headphones). My suggestion for amplifier - Schiit Jotunheim
