While most of the headphones in this test are DJ oriented with a nod towards production, these HD 380 Pros are very much suited to high quality listening to audio, but can also be used in the booth.
A practical solution to a genuine need, this model offers good sound with just a little coloration to which one quickly adapts. An alternative to in-ear monitors
I use these headphones in my home studio. The sound is flat and clean, nice balance overall, not too bass heavy, not too shrill on the highs and mid frequencies. They are very comfortable and do a nice job at isolating sound.
I bought a pair of HD414s when they were first introduced in the late 60s. I still use them for music listening at home. I judge the quality of my work headphones by sitting near my Sennheiser MKH 800 microphones and comparing what I hear through the phones verses live.
These phones feel great on your head, they are extremely comfortable, and spacious. It really improves the overall felling of head room. Frequency response is perfect, great bass and high end. But what I like best is the feeling that I'm listening in a room rather than a set of headphones.
I have owned these headphones for little over a year now, and they are definitely worthy of the Sennheiser name. They offer accurate sound reproduction, which is a necessity for an audiophile, like myself.
Sound Quality, Build Quality
The Sennheiser HD 380 pro is very comfortable to put on and delivers well relative to its price bracket. Highly recommended for buyers looking for good quality over-ear headphones.
Bass is deep but not exaggerated., Sounds are well-defined and clear and great for listening to songs as voices are not overwhelmed by the accompanying music., Provides some noise isolation, allowing you to listen in high ambient noise places
Coiled cable provided, while long, is rather cumbersome and travel-unfriendly., Also, for audiophiles looking for stylish headphones, the HD 380 pro is less than aesthetic.
Build: decent quality, well built nothing much to complain about or to give praise to. Earpads can really heat up your ear due to closed architecture. Made me sweat a lot. The HD380 were the first headphones that made me feel like to much clarity is not good.
For Producers Sen's are an Industry Standard for mixing and mastering. Easy on the ears for long sessions, Not many complaints coming from this way
For their size, these headphones are real comfortable. They fold into a small pouch. They sound real crisp. I picked these up for home studio application. The only problem is: they sound way too heavy on the bass. And that can be very misleading for the mixdowns.
Good product,, But, Bass sound to low
Crystal clear audio, Sennheiser has always been known for the highest quality.
