I wrote up a review of the AVX system a few weeks ago. At the time I really liked it and I still do. Great system, simple to operate, great signal. However there is one important thing I think a potential buyer should be aware of.
This is an excellent microphone. Normally a little pricey. Due to its size the microphone is easily broken. The normal failure points are at the base of the microphone element and at the top of the connector. These are the failure points for the cable.
Best value for money lavalier mic for Sennheiser EW 100 G3 radio lapels. Great quality for price.
I use this kit primarily for educational videos where one or two people are talking in a controlled environment. I find it very intuitive to use, and have yet to have any signal issues. The encrypted digital signal prevents cross-talk like you might get with the G3.
Bought this as a replacement for another ME 2 that had been put through the ringer and was at the end of its life span. Same great sound, good value for the money. I now keep a couple of spares in my kit; if you shoot run-and-gun in the field a lot, you know how much abuse these take.
Great Mic... sound and build
Best lavaliere system I've ever owned. I own the Sony UWP and kept getting hisses and audio level fluctuation so I bought this after trying my friend's set. It's been solid and worry free.
Great range, and I love the receiver being able to connect directly to the XLR inputs of my camcorders. I would give 5 stars, but the mic tie clip is VERY fragile, it literally broke the first time I used it, and I had to borrow a clip from a Sony mic, with some Gaffers and boom, back in business.
Sennheiser has outdone themselves. Even their fantastic EW100 G3 was prone to interference if you're not careful, but I'm coming up on 100 hours of use and haven't noticed a single problem with the AVX.
This microphone set is perfect for use in the field. It has great sound, great durability, and seems to work well at quite a distance. I've been over 100 feet away, and had no problems.
