Ordered this lens because of the price as I never used a fish-eye lens before. It came packaged extremely well as to prevent any damage. The only thing I wished they would have included was a better manual stating how to use this lens.
It served quite adequately on a full frame Sony A7r using 1.4x Clear Image Zoom, but 8mm was just too short for my landscape work. It resisted flare & also rendered quite sharply w/ macro tubes for closeup work.
Fun lens great optics for price you cant go wrong!
Will not work with Nikkon D3400
Samyang mazes a great Fisheye lens at a third of the cost of the other high end manufacturesNormally Im strictly a Nikon lens buyer but after reading the reviews I wanted to try it out so glad I did ...
Interesting for taking special photos.
What a great lens! Running it on a Nikon D5300 for indoor panoramics. 6 shots for a clean HD 360 degree image. 12 (3 passes) for a photo sphere. Love it, highly recommend!
A Fishyeye lens is a novelty item. Having acquired most lenses that I have wanted, I gave consideration to the novelty use of a Fisheye . After reading the reviews of the low price lenses available, I decided to take a chance on the Samyang 8mmf/3.5.
Better than I expected. Manual focus is not a problem since the depth of field is almost 0 to infinity. Set it once and forget it for the most part. Very good build quality, smooth mounting and removing, smooth focus ring and aperture ring.
I am using this lens for high quality panoramic photography for real estate virtual tours. I cannot be happier with this image this inexpensive lens brings to the table. There is minimal vignnetting that is easily corrected in Lightroom. I have had nothing but a great experience with this lens.
