Handling and features This 8mm fisheye lens provides a diagonal field of view of 180 degrees on an APS-C mirrorless camera, sports a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture and is available for around £270 for Sony NEX and Samsung NX cameras in a black or silver finish.
The tested lens fares a bit worse than the Samyang 7.5 mm f/3.5 UMC Fish-eye MFT for mirrorless cameras with a Micro 4/3 sensor, so praised by us. The difference is especially noticeable when you compare the results in vignetting and work against bright light.
small, well-built and very handy casing,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, excellent image quality on the edge of the frame including the maximum relative aperture,, low chromatic aberration,, negligible astigmatism,, decently corrected coma,, high transmission,, very good...
noticeable vignetting,, no depth of field scale.
The exceptionally low price of £270 for the performance this lens delivers makes this lens a simple choice for those in the market for a fisheye lens for their Sony NEX, or Samsung NX cameras.
Excellent sharpness from maximum aperture, Very good build quality, Compact and lightweight, Inexpensive, Stereographic projection
Stiff manual focus ring, Although acceptable, CA levels may pose problem in very large prints if left uncorrected
Though manual, this lens continues to impress me in situations where I need to go as wide as possible. I have the Fujinon XF10-24 f/4, and yet this Samyang fisheye is a go-to lens for those special occasions where you need to get all of the scene into the frame. Sharp, tiny and well built.
This is not a toy but a great quality fisheye lens that gives my images that extra punch. Even casual viewers that have been numbed by the flood of great images on social media take note when they see an image taken with this focal length.
I took the right decision after reading the positive review with NX500. This is a great lens, perfect with my 28 mp Samsung NX1 with no magenta vignetting. It is true that the lens produces purple fringes with my two 20 mp cameras, NX2000 and NX300.
Not a lens that I use often, but it delivers the goods. Very sharp lens (or is it the enormous depth of field?) comparable to my OEM Fujinon lenses.Who needs AF when DOF is from here to eternity?
Very affordable wide angle. It captures some great New York City night time images.
This is a great lens! It is sharp and has a good feel, small size, not too heavy.
Sharp images, good price and very compact but a little too much distortion for me. Set it on infinity and everything is sharpe from 3 feet to infinity - who needs auto focus A bit of a novelty piece but for awhile
Nice lense, well built. Pictures are crisp. I recommanded it. I'm using it with a Fujifilm X-T1
such a great little low cost lens for my fuji x-t1
Been shooting seriously since 2009. Always wanted a fisheye but held off since it is a specialty lens that (I thought) wouldn't get used often. Since I've purchased this, I've been using it quite often on my XT1. Not having AF is not a big deal to me especially when shooting wide.
