This 7.5mm fisheye lens provides a diagonal field of view of 180 degrees on a Micro Four Thirds camera and is available for around £240.
Being priced so low at around £240, this diagonal fisheye from Samyang for Micro Four Thirds system cameras represents excellent value for money. It produces sharp images and has excellent build quality.
Excellent sharpness in the centre from maximum aperture, Very good build quality, Extremely compact, Low CA for a fisheye, Inexpensive, Stereographic projection
Compact size may result in fingers creeping into the edges of the frame, Manual focusing ring is a little stiff.
The Samyang 7.5mm f/3.5 UMC Fisheye is certainly a more than welcome addition to the Micro-Four-Thirds system. The near-stereographic projection doesn't look quite as extreme as in conventional fisheye lenses despite the similar field-of-view so its applications are in fact broader and even pretty...
Does a small, solidly build, stylish lens really exist? One that provides an excellent image quality already up from the maximum relative aperture, in the frame centre and on the frame edge alike? A lens devoid of basic optical aberrations and with a very affordable price tag?
small, well-build and very handy casing,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, excellent image quality on the edge of the frame, including the maximum relative aperture,, low chromatic aberration,, negligible astigmatism,, very well corrected coma,, well corrected vignetting,, proper work...
lack of depth of field scale.
I bought this fisheye for fun, had a great time taking photos with a new perspective. The price is very reasonable. It is not the sharpest lens but very respectable. F stop of 3.5 is slow for inside a building or with movement.Size wise, it is perfect for micro 43, does not add much weight at all.
Not everyone need a fisheye. Foe me it is more a fun lens than a serious optical instrument. When I got this little guy from Samyang, I was really surprised at how good the image quality is. The build quality is very good , tight fit and smooth operation.
Superb lense with great colour rendition.
just great.... This lens should be in every MFT shooters backpack! It's so easy to use even it's a manual lens... No problemo... I use it on my Olympus OMD E-M5 mk2 and the handy E-PL7. Just buy it ! Don't think further...
Excellent fun to use and produces good results. Olympus cameras give you all the flexibility you need to use this manual lens in the way that suits you. With this angle of view ttl metering needs a degree of intelligence, so exposing for grass or other favourite techniques work well.
Love this lens. Super sharp and pretty easy to focus with. As the field of view is so wide most of the time you'll be at or around infinity. Very pleased.
Great lens worth every penny.
This is an incredibly sharp lens on my Olympus M1. It is a bit of a tricky lens to focus, but a lot of fun to use. It is very well made and has a nice solid feel about it with a lovely action to both the focus ring and the aperture ring.
Brilliant little lens, and this is my 5th. I have had them in Samsung, Pentax, Nikon (2) and MFT. Really well made and if used with care makes for some stunning pictures.
Takes a bit of getting used to going back to manual focusing, but optically this lens seems to be pretty good. Good build quality and pouch and lens hood included. Excellent value for money.
