Over the course of this review, we've taken an in-depth look at the optical performance and handling of the Samyang 10mm F2.8 ED AS NCS CS ultra-wide prime lens. With its extreme field of view of 109.5°, this lens deserves extra recognition by the Pentax community, as it's the widest non-fisheye...

Widest rectilinear prime available for Pentax, Exceptionally sharp across the frame, Fast F2.8 aperture, Unobtrusive barrel distortion, Good contrast, Minimal chromatic aberrations, Resistant to ghosting, Nice starburst effect at night, Compact and easy to carry, Automatic aperture control (full P,...

Prominent vignetting at F2.8 and F3.5, Difficult to focus on nearby subjects through the viewfinder, Harsh bokeh / sub-optimal for close-ups, Not possible to use lens filters, Prone to harsh flare in strong, direct light, No in-camera lens corrections, Only 1 year of warranty in the US, Potential...

This manual focus wide angle lens for APS-C format cameras, offers a fast angle of view equivalent to a 15mm lens, with a relatively fast maximum aperture of f/2.8 for a budget launch price of around £429.

Such lenses as the Tokina 11–16 mm f/2.8 and the Sigma 10–20 mm f/3.5 raised the standards very high because both are very good instruments. Still we thought that the Samyang 2.8/10, being a fixed-focal lens with parameters not so far removed from those of the zooms, would be able to defeat the...

sensational image quality in the frame centre,, sensibly corrected chromatic aberration,, good correction of spherical aberration,, not especially high coma,, moderate astigmatism,, interesting parameters.
-
-
weak image quality on the edge of the frame,, too high distortion,, work against bright light should have been better,, distinct vignetting.

Overall, this lens is a good performer, for a decent price. The combination of good sharpness levels and a relatively fast f/2.8 maximum aperture should have London estate agents excited, as they will be able to make their dark dingy shoebox-sized bedsits look like bright, airy mansions, thanks to...

Good value for money, Excellent sharpness in the centre from maximum aperture, Very good sharpness towards the edges stopped down to f/4 or beyond, Hyperfocal scale, Low CA levels, Good build

Wavy distortion pattern may be difficult to correct in image editing software, No hard infinity stop

I sorta have a love/hate relationship with this lens, but overall I do enjoy it and it has brought my photography game up to another level. Having read some of the negative reviews I was honestly a little worried/hesitant investing in this lens; but so far I've found it to be well worth the price...

best lens for astrophotography
![]() |
I just bought this lens and upgraded from a kit lens provided by Canon on the 40D handed down from my father. Since then, I "upgraded" the camera body to the 40D which is 2008 technology and having been skeptical about the image quality of the kit lens, the Rokinon 10mm lens took my astro shots to a...

Very good value for money, especially for architecture and landscape photo, where manual focus is not a problem.

Very wide angle, very sharp across the frame when stopped down to 5,6 and more (edges equal to tokina 11 - 16mm), proper size and weight do Nikon D7x00 cameras. Distortion is not a big problem.

little bit softer wide open

Works great on my A6000. I use it mainly for architecture.

Very good lens. I like it. I missed the fact that there is no mount for filters, only its big brother for Full frame supports filters, which is a big shame!

Great lens with a 2.8 apature allows you to shoot at fast shutter speeds to capture sharp images in low light. Great for astrophotograpy and landscape photography.

Lens has bad aberration on the edges with an APS-C sensor. Stars are keyholed hard. Other than that it performs as advertised. Another Rokinon I had was the single best lens I've ever owned, so I'm a little more forgiving I on this one I guess.

I purchased this specifically for astrophotography as it provided a large aperture. As auto-focus doesn't work when focusing on stars, the lack of it on this lens is not an issue for me.
