Samsung's Q8 has the image quality, design and cool extras to make a compelling alternative for high-end shoppers who don't want an OLED.
The Samsung Q8 series serves up excellent image quality, with deep black levels, prodigious brightness, accurate color, superb video processing and powerful high dynamic range performance. It has sleek, modern styling and best-in class features.
More expensive than many TVs with similar image quality, and not THAT much cheaper than an LG OLED. Bixby can't compete with Alexa or Google Assistant.
Quantum dots in Samsung’s near-top-of-line QLED TV allow it to deliver exceptionally rich color. Add in a full-array backlight with local dimming and the QN65Q8FN amounts to a winning proposition from a picture quality standpoint.
Excellent color rendition, Deep, detailed-looking blacks, Full-array backlight with local dimming
Potentially confusing screen GUI and remote, Unreliable voice command feature, No Dolby Vision
We really like the Samsung Q8FN and consider it to be a slightly better overall value than the Q9FN because it comes so close on important performance metrics while costing a fair bit less.
Excellent display brightness, Full-array LED backlighting with local dimming, High performance on contrast and black level, Incredibly good color performance, Great motion handling, Beautiful design, Decent price
Not nearly as high contrast as Q9FN, Poor native audio power, Weak on viewing angles, Local dimming could be better, Samsung won’t add Dolby Vision support
Inevitably, the Q8FN (Q8DN in the UK) is not as good as the Q9FN, as it only uses around a tenth as many backlight dimming zones as its illustrious sibling. Compared with pretty much all other LCD TVs, though, the Q8FN is still a fantastic TV that delivers exceptional impact and excitement with 4K...
Extremely bright HDR pictures, Exceptional contrast, Good smart TV system, Strong audio performance
Limited viewing angle, Some mild backlight blooming, No Dolby Vision, Pricey in the UK
I was deciding between this TV and the Sony 900F. While the Sony appeared to be a better value, especially after price cuts, I am happy I went with this Samsung. The deciding factors were its anti-reflective coating and ability to get bright, as my apartment has floor-to-ceiling windows and lets in...
Bright picture, anti-reflective coating, punchy colors
Not as good of a value as the Sony 900F
Update: although I have had extensive conversations with Daniel O’Keefe, we both figured the DSE is unacceptable. I’m bummed out because it’s noticeable while gaming. Better alternative to the OLED... since I’ve owned an OLED.
Love it, great tv so far. Easy to set up and tweak settings.
Tv has and incredible picture, Sound is amazing coming rom this tv....Easy connection to bluetooth accessories...All connections are user friendly...
Picture, Sound, ease of install....Bluetooth seamless connection ....Very user friendly....
great picture and easy set up
Originally I planned to buy the Samsung 65 Q9FN but worried about the One Connect box (read a lot of reviews that talked about failures of the box).I opted for the Q8. Am very pleased with my purchase. Can't imagine that the picture on the Q9 could be any more impressive than the Q8.
When I was considering TVs, I did not like the burn-in and color shift of OLED TVs that I saw on various tests. So the choice came down to two Samsung models - The 65 inch Q8FN, and the Samsung Q9FN. Both are excellent TVs.
Excellent pictureGood sound with built-in speakers, perfect sound with optical output to external system.Dims to save screen with static images (WII game)
Worked right out of the box. Excellent picture and easy setup.
Samsung did a really beautiful job with this television I had the 2017 QLED and this is a definite upgrade as far as black levels and picture quality is just superb .I’m very happy.
Our family is really enjoying our new QLED Q8F. First off the 65' is great. I've been wanting a larger TV for quite some time and am super happy with the 65'. Also the picture quality and colors of the TV are amazing. Simply beautiful. I really enjoy how simplistic the remote is.
