Best-in-class sensor resolution. 15fps continuous shooting. Sharp EVF. Tilting touch-screen LCD. 1/8,000-second shutter. Strong high ISO performance. Weather-sealed design. Monochrome information LCD. Great control layout. Dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. 4K video recording.

Burst shooting limited in Raw mode. 4K footage requires transcoding for editing and computer playback. Bluetooth functionality for Android only. Doesn't include external charger.
The Samsung NX1 is a winner and we liked it so much, we’re calling it our favorite camera of 2014, with the Nikon D750 a close second. The reason we picked the Samsung are all of the advanced features detailed above: excellent image quality, great noise handling, and 4K video capture, just to name a...

One of the best APS-C cameras reviewed yet, Captures 4K videos directly to media card, Fast response, speedy focusing

Limited number of S-series lenses, Doesn’t have DSLR stamina (for burst modes), Heavier than other mirrorless models
Fast, sturdy, well-designed and with excellent photo quality, the Samsung NX1 hits all the bases for action-shooting enthusiasts.

The Samsung NX1 is fast, well-designed, weather resistant and feature-packed, and it produces great photos and videos.

There's no charger included, and USB charging takes longer than we'd like. Plus, it could use tracking autofocus when you're shooting via the viewfinder.
I’ve worked with mirrorless cameras in the past, but never found them quite up to the task. After unpacking the new Samsung NX1 ($1,499, body only) and 16-50mm f/2-2.8 S ED OIS lens ($1,299) and taking a closer look at the two, I thought, this could be the deal changer.
Not only does the NX1 feature the largest BSI sensor we've ever seen, but it also offers the highest pixel count of any APS-C body. The combination results in excellent image quality and - just as important - the NX1 also incorporates one of the most extensive and effective on-sensor phase detection...

Lens family is limited at this time, Best AF performance limited to select lenses, Autofocus is less predictable in low light, Overly aggressive Jpeg noise reduction, No true live view during burst shooting, Noisy high-ISO video, Onerous procedure for downloading support software, H.265 video codec
The NX1 delivers very high image and video quality, has a powerful auto focus, and allows for quick settings changes via touchscreen, dedicated buttons and dials. If the EVF and modest lens offerings don't deter you, this mirrorless powerhouse is worth a serious look.

Very high image quality, Burst modes are fast, even in RAW mode, Touchscreen navigation is convenient, Lots of controls, including three dials, Built-in flash is quick to recharge, Built in NFC, WiFi and Bluetooth, Tap touchscreen for AF during video recording, Records 4k video, Attractive in-camera...

Number of NX mount lenses is limited, Electronic viewfinder lacks clarity of optical, EVF and LCD refresh rate can hamper action photography, Manual focus via EVF is not ideal, LCD angles only 45 degrees downward, No iOS smartphone support (Android only), Battery life could be better
On most fronts, the Samsung NX1 is a tremendous camera, with excellent DSLR-like ergonomics and controls, impressive photo and video quality and great performance. The NX1 does falter somewhat with continuous autofocus performance, but overall, it is a very compelling camera.

Very good, high-resolution image quality; Excellent high ISO performance with RAW files; Very good dynamic range; Blazing fast 15fps full-res burst mode; Deep buffer; Great build quality & comfortable ergonomics; Lots of physical controls; Great battery life; Fast single-shot AF.

Continuous AF performance still not as robust as competing DSLRs; Aggressive JPEG noise reduction at high ISOs; JPEG colors and saturation less pleasing at higher ISOs; H.265 video codec can be difficult to work with.
New York City is a hub of excitement and wonder, particularly around the holiday season. There are countless shows on Broadway and carolers everywhere. But, nothing quite says “Christmas in New York” like the show just around the corner from Rockefeller Center’s infamous Christmas tree—Radio City...
Samsung is also keen to big-up that the camera’s phase detection autofocus will make the picture a bit more stable when refocusing, and that you can send the uncompressed video feed directly to an external recorder over HDMI.

This has been my main camera for four months now. I have shot about 20,000 pictures and about 23 hours of video, and here are my impressions so far.
