The Samsung UNJS8500 SUHD TV has a very good picture for an edge-lit LED LCD, but not good enough to justify the price.
The UNJS8500 is Samsung's highest-end 2015 TV with a flat rather than curved screen. It delivers very good picture quality, with relatively deep black levels, accurate color and solid video processing.
Despite the nanocrystal-powered color and HDR compatibility inherent in Samsung's SUHD name, the JS8500 doesn't offer appreciably better image quality than many less expensive TVs.
This more affordable 4K LED backlit offering from Samsung has some excellent features. The difference between the JS9000 series is that the screen is curved on the JS9000 and flat on the JS8500.
The UE55JS8500 doesn’t deliver as fully on the UHD HDR dream as Samsung’s flagship JS9500 models, but it also costs well under half as much. It also still enjoys enough SUHD thrills to put clear air between its pictures and those of any other non-SUHD 55-inch TV we’ve seen to date.
Mostly outstanding, next-generation picture quality, Easy-to-use smart TV system, Plays HDR content, and plays it well
Curved screen can distort reflections, Backlight clouding has to be worked around, Doesn't deliver so potent an HDR impact as Samsung's more expensive JS9500 series
Well it’s a thing of beauty, if you value looks, that’s for sure. The curve of the screen is quite gentle and the base stand swoops in tandem with it...
Gorgeous design, Great connectivity, Tizen UI is smart, Highly impressive dynamic range, Ultra-low input lag, Generally great screen uniformity
Some key apps missing from Tizen, Dimming system could be better, Some slight dark screen uniformity concerns
If you can’t afford OLED (and who can?), this is the 4K telly to get
Subtle and stacked with detail, Striking colours and contrast, Tidy sum of apps, Strong sound
3D glasses sold separately
The TV itself is ok, good picture and looks nice. The faults are about everything else. The only way to plug in anything other than one USB device is to use the "one connect" box and cable. The cable it comes with is an awkward 4ft length making it difficult for wall mount applications.
Picture Great, options great, purchased (2) of these and now the second one went complete black screen but sound still works. 2 days out of warranty and Samsung said 2 days is 2 days and no warranty parts and/or labor will be given.
I enjoyed this TV. ...the very best of samsung so far. Image quality are excellent no complain. I love my spirit remote pointer. I give 5 stars.
Quite a nice tv for the money, has all the bells and whistles one will need. Great picture too.
very good quality, came as expected, in time, Thanks, Therese
The feature are what made me get this tv however the picture quality is excellent. I've had it for a three months and don't have any big issues. The bigger tv does make the picture quality for my cable company look bad but that's not a knock on the tv.
Absolutely loved this TV in the first year - great picture, sound, features. But sadly the picture has completely deteriorated in the past year, to the point where it's nearly unwatchable. And of course it's now out of warranty.
The picture quality of this TV is great. The Smart functionality is not the best. When you turn the TV on its just an up hill battle getting it to do what you want it to do. You are WAY better off getting a 55inch Samsung and hook it up to a Roku. I wish I could return this TV.
Couldn't be happier best TV ever
