Samsung’s Q950A is big, brutish, and shockingly priced for a soundbar. You can literally get seven or eight 5.1 bars from your local Costco for its full price. But damned if it isn’t exquisite when you put the lights down and turn the sound up.

Full-on immersion therapy

The soundbar has decent sound and voices are clear. Depending on the content watched sometimes the voices sound tinny. The price of this soundbar puts it at a two star. If it was £400 cheaper like it is in the US it would be a 4 star.

So the same item in the USA is sold by Samsung for less than $1300 (In dollars, £945) whereas in the UK is £1599.Comparing this to Sony HT-A9 , LG-SP11RA, Sonos Arc, etc all offer room correction outside the box without needing any specific TVs.

Brought a new sound bar for a new tv. I originally had a sony ht something. Which struggled with the rear speakers

I love my soundbar. The sound is next level. Easy to set up but make sure you download the app to make life easier. I didnt see that gem in the instructions until later on! Recommend with the latest Samsung Qled 950T ...works a treat.

I bought the HW-Q950A to replace a Pioneer SBX-N700 and the difference in sound quality is staggering. Not just because of the additional rear surround speakers but because of the power and responsiveness of the sub woofer.

  Wonderful sound. To get 11.1.4, you have to switch to away from standard setting, to one of the other Sound setting options. Standard decodes raw, whatever the source, 2.0, 5.1, 7.1.4.

  Wish the App could do everything, the remote can do (hence the 9 score). Voice audio channel by default, in 11.1.4 is a little low, obviously this can be changed in the setting.

A true 11.1.4 soundbar sounds too good to be true, but these are real physical channels and none of the virtualisation that other soundbars have to rely on.The sound field is astonishing and dialogue is crisp clear in spite of action and background sounds.

Bought this online spent 10 hours trying to get it to work absolutely nothing attached HDMI cable & it keeps reverting back to TV speakers says it connected with Bluetooth and Wifi ..just no sound no matter what I do

Great sound but Alexa does not work, which they should have mentioned before me buying it. Other sounders like SONOS with built Alexa works. It has a lot of intelligent features but I would not recommend to use them as it is doing a lot of digitalized corrections that lessen the sound quality.
