The Samsung SSD 860 Pro offers outstanding endurance ratings and on-point SATA speed, but deal seekers who need a 2.5-inch solid state drive for everyday use can find cheaper alternatives.

High cost per gigabyte.
The Samsung SSD 860 PRO is among the highest-performing SATA-based solid state drives on the market. The Samsung SSD 860 PRO didn't sweep our benchmarks across the board, which is exceedingly hard to do with a SATA-based drive considering the limitations of the legacy interface, but regardless...

SATA Is Old Hat, Price Premium
The Samsung 860 Pro 1TB serves a shrinking market that's overshadowed by faster NVMe-based products. If you are tethered to the SATA bus and need the best in every category, the 860 Pro 1TB delivers. The 860 Pro is also the first NAS-rated prosumer SSD and it should work well in RAID.

Highest SATA performance for sustained workloads, Highest endurance, Consistent performance, Excellent software package

Impressive performance isn't the only thing the 860 PRO has to offer. To keep your data safe, the drive features AES 256-bit full disk encryption and is compliant with both the TCG Opal 2.0 and IEEE 1667 specifications.

So who would buy an 860 EVO over the PRO or vice versa? Well, that depends on your workload, endurance needs and wallet size I guess. Performance wise really you are not going to notice a difference between the two, However, if you want really excellent endurance, hey the TBW values are through the...
Samsung’s Pro range of SSDs have always had a hard time in the face of their cheaper Evo counterparts. On the face of it, they’re meant to be faster and longer-lasting – the very best gaming SSD , so to speak – but when the Samsung 850 Evo and 960 Evo proved to be pretty much just as quick as their...
* 860 EVO is also available in M.2 SATA 250GB-2TB and mSATA 250GB-1TB for the same prices stated above. Endurance ratings are significantly higher than all current competing SATA products, coming in ~3x the MX500 rating (MX500 being an SSD that already showed excellent endurance).
It doesn’t seem so long ago that I remember discussions with Samsung where sales were the bottom line and they didn’t seem too interested in marketing niche products, as the Samsung 860 Pro 4TB SSD definitely is.
Samsung's 860 Pro didn't turn in a groundbreaking performance, but we're long past the time that any SATA drive can do so. With one or two minor exceptions, the 860 Pro lived up to the legacy of its predecessors.
The Samsung 860 PRO sets a new bar in end-user performance for SATA SSDs by providing prosumers and professionals with the power they need to handle resource-intensive use cases with an industry-leading capacity.
Bought this 2TB Samsung 860 Pro SSD to replace my gaming notebooks 1TB Samsung 850 Pro Storage SSD. The 2TB Samsung 860 Pro has only slightly faster, average performance over all then the 1TB Samsung 850 Pro which is hardly noticeable for every day storage use.

I installed the drive in less than 5 minutes and after assigning a drive letter, I was up and running--all within 10 minutes. The drive is super fast and the large storage is perfect for my vlogging production with Adobe Premiere Pro. Wish I could afford 3 of them.
I can't figure out why I was opposed to ordering my new computer with a Solid State Drive instead of a HDD. Perhaps I was leery of the technology. I since replaced the HDD with the Samsung 860 Pro Solid State Drive. Before it to several minutes for the system to boot, now it is almost instantaneous.
The PRO is a tougher drive than the EVO. Performance is about the same between the two.EVO is ideal for home users, and PRO is suited for heavy workstation users. The Samsung Magician software is comprehensive and provides a wonderful disk cache for Intel chipset system boards.
I have easily migrated data from HDD to SSD. It works very well and the performance is excellent.
I have been using Samsung SSDs since the 830, and the pro version since the 840 pro came out both in my own machines and clients and have never had any issues at all and great speed from the drives. Definitely some of the most reliable drives available!
The read and write speeds are extraordinary... the best ssd ever
