So who would buy an 860 EVO over the PRO or vice versa? Well, that depends on your workload, endurance needs and wallet size I guess. Performance wise really you are not going to notice a difference between the two, However, if you want really excellent endurance, hey the TBW values are through the...
The 860 EVO 1 TB gave us the solid mainstream performance we've come to expect out of Samsung's EVO line. We distill the overall performance rating using an older SATA SSD as a baseline. To compare each drive, we then take the geometric mean of a basket of results from our test suite.

If you’ve got an NVMe PCI M.2 port on your system you’ll probably want Samsung’s 960 Evo in that form factor, but for everyone else the SATA model the new Evo is an excellent option.
There can be no conclusion other than the fact the new Samsung 860 EVO shows green lights everywhere, and checks all the right boxes. It is getting rather saturated in the SATA3 arena and the performance difference is becoming more marginal at best.
Installed in my Toshiba L55 laptop, cloned the Toshiba 128GB SSD to the Samsung 500GB EVO 2.5" SSD using the downloadable Samsung Data Migration software, EVO installed and booted up with all the new extra space, Windows 10 shows 465GB, took about two hours for the clone, disassemble, dust cleaning,...
Bought this 2TB Samsung 860 Pro SSD to replace my gaming notebooks 1TB Samsung 850 Pro Storage SSD. The 2TB Samsung 860 Pro has only slightly faster, average performance over all then the 1TB Samsung 850 Pro which is hardly noticeable for every day storage use.

I've purchased a few SSD';s for desktop HDD replacements and after the first two, including their RMA's failed, I sought input from fellow PC enthusiasts and the Samsung 860-EVO was the SSD recommended by a lot of individuals!

Deducted 2 eggs for the hassle. Not cool to give invalid instructions in the setup pamphlet. I use a lot of Samsung products (Phones, Pads, DVD players) but this left a bad taste!

Imagine my surprise! The instruction pamphlet that comes with the drive said to download Magician to get it up and running. I did so and Magician gave me a thumbs down, saying that it didn't support the 860 EVO. Used Samsung Data Migration to do the job.
Nuff said. You cannot go wrong with this drive.
I always had my doubt on big memory for a Solid State Drive to be as an OS but I'm having a good amount of heavy programs that itself needs a great amount of memory and I'm happy I did this change.
After a month of waiting, i got issued with a gift card with a lost cause. I hope it wont happen to anyone.
I am an IT Professional and I have migrated from one HD to another at work and at home many many times. I also recall the days when Windows had HD size constraints. I would never say that I love data migrations, I'd rather avoid them, so when I saw reviews that the Samsung Migration Tools were a...
