My first Rokinon lens was the 8mm f2.8 fisheye for the Fujifilm X-series camera. I was a little skeptical of trying a third party lens out, especially from a manufacturer that I've never heard of before. Well, I can say I was amazed at the quality of the fisheye.
I’ve read reviews and watched many youtube videos before purchasing this lens and it lives upto the hype. It is full frame but I’m using it on an apsc sensor. Look at my attached images and be the judge!
I had done enough research to satisfy my curiosity about the product and was not disappointed in it at all. It does what it says it does and that's all there is to it. The lack of autofocus might be a problem for some but it is clearly labeled and marketed as manual focus so this shouldn't be a...
Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Very happy with that lens even is at full aperture it is sometimes hard to focus. That the cons of the manual focus. The image is nearly as sharp as the Nikon one.
I received my copy earlier than expected. Staff was very professional. The lens work as expected. I had some concerns after reading feedback for previous owners. I use the lens with my Pentax K20D. The lens is a solid product and a high quality product.
I have to tell you how this lens buying started. Our relative out of town came on a short visit. I took a shot of this occasion with Sony A-77 using Tamron 18-200mm. I was so disappointed with the lens sharpness. I have certificate due soon so I search for full-frame sharp lens.
Just wow, this lens is absolutely incredible
The lens is sharp in the center even wide open. There's some vignette in the cornersand green/purple fringing out of the plane of focus, but it's correctable with Lightroom. Nailing focus at f/1.4 when close to your subjects can be challenging.
3-stars, maybe 2-stars for this one. Based on the Samyang/Rokinon wide variance in lens quality, I assume I did not get one of the good ones. I purchased this lens for one thing, astrophotography. This makes for a severe test for a lens.
The lens works perfectly with my Nikon D3200. The confirmation chip will trigger the green light in the view-finder when the object is in focus. A very nice shallow depth-of-field effect can be created with ease.
