The affordable, versatile Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine DS lens isn't the best performer at f/1.4, but it shines when stopped down.

Geared for cinema use., Very sharp when stopped down., Even illumination across frame., Minimal distortion., Available for multiple systems., Affordable.

A bit soft at f/1.4., Manual focus design is not for everyone., Omits optical stabilization.
I am exceptionally happy with this cinema lens. The images you get out of it are soooo sharp and the bokeh is bokehlicious. I want to pick up more of these in different focal lengths for my Sony A7S series cameras for a film project I'm working on. VERY pleased with the quality of this product.
I have the Rokinon 35mm T1.5 as well as the 85mm now, and while the 35mm is very good (though soft wide open, as expected) the 85mm is an incredible lens; sharp wide open, beautiful picture, and creamy bokeh. It's smaller than I expected, which is nice, with solid build quality.
This is a 5 star lens in terms of image quality, and build. I own all of the Cine DS line of lenses for my a7s, and I got the 85 to add to my lineup. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to the specs and the 3.5 feet focus distance.
This lens is phenomenal! I love the color and the look it makes with my camera. Phenomenal in lowlight, night, and dusk. I would not recommend this lens be used at high noon since it gives the images a gritty cinematic look.
I've always used Canon gear as rental but this lens is incredible for the price, it really has a very good quality. I'm planning on buying the 12mm nano coated and the 35mm, and the thing about the DS line is that all lenses are coated so that each have the same color.
I use a GH-4 highly modified to shoot original Documentaries for the big and small screen. I needed a decent Cine Lens for closeup and tight testimonials as well as exterior shooting (b-roll). This clearly is the lens for both. First quality counts, this is no cheap lens.
Rokinon/Samyang really make excellent lenses for the money. In many cases I think they hit the best price-to-performance mark of any lenses out there.I needed a new 85mm to replace my aging Nikkor Ai-S 85mm and this Rokinon outperforms all of Nikkor's offerings until you get to the over $1,000...
Such a beautiful lens and image quality for the price. Unfortunately, you are buying a cheap lens so the build quality isn't built to last. After having it a year it literally fell apart. On a shoot and the glass falls out of both sides (how does that even happen?).
Awesome product.Sharps images.Soft dials (aperture and focus rings)
If you're looking for a fairly priced lens, without compromising quality, get this one. Sharp at 1.4, and focus ring is super smooth! Build quality is super. I'll get more Rokinon CineLenses. ??
