After reading numerous reviews on this lens, I went ahead and purchased this lens and I have NO regrets, the lens is tack sharp. One flaw is that in video mode the lens does make a ticking sound, the sound is a little noticeable than the sigma 18-35 F1.8 on the MC-11 on the Sony mirrorless, other...
Cool lens, has pretty good quality images but it makes noise when focusing. Not an issue when I'm shooting portraits but if you're going to shoot video it might not be the best option.
Im amazed at the quality especially for the price! I was going to go with the Samyang, but figured id try this one just incase. I have it on a Sony A7III, and the autofocus (especially continuous AF for video) is incredible. Very fast and clear focus for sure.
Since I had read such great reviews about this lens, I HAD to get one for my portrait photography! And I must say, it is AMAZING! I am still in 2 minds whether to return it back and get the sigma 35mm f1.4 ART or not.
Wow ,wow oh lord so sharp lens amazing sharpness even f/1.4 F2.8. To. F/11 ultra sharp. My 20 mm Nikon was f/5.6 to f/8 set to sharp emage , my Nikon 28 mm ais is sharp but rokinon 35 mm are sharper then all arthers I'm so happy with this lens , I'll keep long time.
Purchased this 2 months ago, and finally got around to testing it. Out of the box, the focus would hunt, and then get stuck. I could hear the motors trying to focus, but nothing would happen. The only way to fix it was by turning it off and on again. Thought it may have been a one time thing.
This is a fabulous lens! For the most part... It's sharp, and super quick to focus, even in low light!I only have one issue that has happened 2 times. After working perfectly for a while all of a sudden the lens would not focus. It kept hunting as long as I pressed focus, no matter what I did.
Overall, I really enjoy this lens. I use it on my A7RII for stills and A7SII for video. Tack sharp at the center. Great bokeh. Pretty fast AF. Solid build quality. The sound the AF motor makes is somewhat noticeable, but I use a shotgun mic so it doesn't matter to me.
So far, I'm REALLY enjoying this lens. My principal astro lens has been the Rokinon 24 f1.4 and while this is slightly more narrow, it's tack sharp and 35mm can still tell a great story of the sky (just not the entire sky like a wider lens)As a walk around lens, it focuses fast and handles...
I love this lens. It is sharper than I was expecting. Focusing is fast and fairly accurate, hunts a little in low light but nothing out of the ordinary for a wide aperture prime. I like how it renders bokeh and colors. Very nice for portraits in low light.
