The affordable Samyang 16mm F2.0 ED AS UMC CS is a sharp, fast wide-angle lens for APS-C SLRs and mirrorless cameras.
Nice price. Quite sharp. Focuses to 7.9 inches. Available for multiple systems.
Doesn't cover a full-frame image sensor. Manual focus isn't for everyone. Omits optical stabilization. Some fall-off at corners.
This is a very nice lens, particularly if you don't mind that you have to operate it fully manually. It is very sharp but it has pretty bad vignetting at 2.0 and 2.8 (see the attached image, which I took in the late afternoon under difficult light conditions).
I got this for my Canon EOS Rebel T5i. I was using the Kit Lens at 18mm f/3.5 for my Astrophotography shots, but it just wasn't cutting it. How much difference does 2mm and a couple of stops make, turns out a lot.
Now first off, I'm just a dude that does this for fun, and I've never made a dime from anything photography-related. I wasn't sure about getting a manual lens because I truly do love auto-focus.
Absolutely fantastic lens. Ok, so it's not thousands of dollars and honestly if your a professional, my opinion may seem uneducated and uninformed. However, I'm not going to drop thousands into a lens and this lens preforms spectacularly on my Samsung NX500, as well it outperformed other lens...
Very fast lens that is also great for astrophotography.
For the price, it is unbeatable... completely and utterly unbeatable. Images are real sharp as soon as you back a half stop up. I do however often shoot astrophotography at full speed without noticeable effect (for an amatuer).
i have been in the market for a wide angle lens for my canon 5d mkii & 60d for a while now, but $2,000 for a canon "L" series lens was slightly out of the budget. i started looking at options and did a lot of research on Rokinon. after much back & forth i pulled the trigger.
This lens rocks! I wasn't sure if I would be able to deal with a fully manual lens but after listening to some video reviews of people who used the live view and zoom I was able to get super-crisp shots. I'll be keeping this lens for years to come.
Nice lens for my Nikon. Here comes the stars!
Good quality. Good price.
