The affordable Samyang 16mm F2.0 ED AS UMC CS is a sharp, fast wide-angle lens for APS-C SLRs and mirrorless cameras.
Nice price. Quite sharp. Focuses to 7.9 inches. Available for multiple systems.
Doesn't cover a full-frame image sensor. Manual focus isn't for everyone. Omits optical stabilization. Some fall-off at corners.
I received this lens today, and I'm very pleased I bought it. Right from when I opened the package, I was impressed by how solid feeling the lens was, and as soon as I tried the focus ring, I noticed that it was even smoother than I had imagined. I red it in reviews, but in person, it's even better.
This lens is incredible for the price. My main purpose for it is night sky photography, and it excels in this area. It is very sharp and the vignetting really isn't terrible for night photos, though it will certainly be more noticeable for day time shots at f/2 (Obviously Lightroom can correct this...
Takes crystal clear images. Easy to work with. It's a manual lens, what else can be said.
Works well for astrophotography.
works well with canon rebel t3i. i am a beginner photographer. used this for a meteor shower and some other astrophotography. GREAT images. very happy with this lens.
lens is good, but the hood sucks. it doesn't stay secure.
Pros: Crazy sharp images, super fast aperture, well built! Cons: No electronic communication with your camera. This means no autofocus, no electronic aperture selection, and no telling what your settings were post production. Has some weird quirks in live view as well...
Sharp and great for the northern lights photos I take.
Simple review. If you need a 16mm lens for an Crop Sensor camera. Buy this one.
Truly one of the best lenses I have ever used. Sharpness is unbelievable, even wide open. This lens performs better wide open than most other lenses stopped down to f8. Build quality is professional and the focus ring is among the best I have seen: silky smooth.
