The lens is very good and substantially what I wanted. I was disappointed to learn than with my Alpha 330, the lens can only be used in the manual mode. This is not a huge problem, but i was under the impression that it would be fully integrated with my Sony.
This is an amazing bargain. For the money it gives excellent images. It does have mustache distortion so you have to be careful with what you shoot and your distance. This lens has a neutral drawing style and color rendering which is perfect for landscape shooting.
I never thought I'd want to go wider than 24mm but after seeing the photos on the Flickr Samyang 14mm f2.8 page (The lens is badged under different names, including also Bower and Vivitar.), and particularly those of the night sky with stars, I decided to give it a try.
I purchased this lens for night photography, and when I received it, it would not fit on my Sony A7R. I removed my 35MM Sony Lens very easily, and then tried for several minutes to line up the mounting ring on the Rokinon Lens, and it simply did not fit.
What a little gem! It's all that the other reviewers say it is. The only things I can add are: 1) buy PTLens software to remove the lens aberrations. PTLens works either as a stand alone or can plug into Paint Shop Pro (and presumable Photoshop).
I currently have the A99 with the Zeiss 24-70mm. I love using the Zeiss at 24mm for my wide shots but then I rented the Zeiss 16-35mm lens and that lens at 16mm gave me a whole new perspective of the "world" I was shooting. And then I put on the Rokinon 14mm on my A99 and wow.
Great lens, check out some photos I took with it on my instagram @jonathinadams
Good lens with either great or good shots. Issue I have is that the distance ring does not seem to hold true...kind of a general guide toward being in focus. That said, a 14mm F2.8 for me was for night shots and amazing landscapes which equals infinity distance focus..
Crisp, clean, nice glass! Great value, I love this lens for night photos!
Great quality! This was my first manual lens, so it took a little bit of getting used to. But I absolutely love the dynamic variety it brings to my wedding galleries! The photos are from the first wedding I shot with the lens.
