My intent was to use it for video. However, I went out and took some landscape photos to test it out. I also took some night time photos of the night sky. I like the results. Shooting landscapes is easy, just focus to infinity and everything more than a car length away is razor sharp.
This is one phenomenal lens. I use it on a Nikon D7200, so the cropped frame eliminates all distortion (of which there is little to begin with). Very good quality lens.
Great wide angle lens, very sharp if properly focused, which is kind of the problem. Not easy to manually focus with a lens this wide, but still manageable. And price is great, too. Great for landscape and indoors shooting
My heart is set on rokinons. I love this lens so much, mostly because it's a cinematic lens and you can change the aperture smoothly while you're recording. It's very sharp but still has soft features that make the image look more cinematic especially when shooting against the sun.
I made some tests and it was super sharp on the right side but not so much on the left side lower corner of frame but enough to bother me and I ended up selling it. I tried a series of apertures and it never got that great on the left side.
Gorgeous lens, put it on my JVC LS300 its a great wide angle lens with very little distortion. The quality you get for the price warrants the 5 stars.
I'm currently using this item with my Canon DSLR for wide shots on my Ronin-M. After testing the lens in studio, the falloff isn't bad, it's pretty sharp. I appreciate Rokinon lenses.
This lens is a great, affordable MFT cine lens. I have used it primarily on my BMPCC and love it. The focus ring is smooth like butter, unlike using photography lenses for filming. The focus gets me tack sharp images without aberration.
I am a videographer at a corporate office in Nashville and I use all Rokinon lenses for my work. This lens fits on an EF Canon and allows me to capture wide angle shots or work in tighter work areas.
Been playing around with this lens for a while now, at first I was afraid to make the purchase since several reviews said that their unit had some manufacturing issues but mine was perfectly fine.
