Home in on close-up subjects with the Sony E mount 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lensfrom Rokinon, which affords life-size 1:1 magnification along with a minimum focusing distance of 1'. This manual focus portrait-length lens also incorporates one high refractive index element and one extra-low dispersion...
I bought the Sony E mount version of this lens for dedicated indoor studio macro work. For Sony cameras this lens configuration has a factory attached and not removable adapter at the f stop ring to compensate for the shorter flange distance difference versus SLRs mounts.
I am really enjoying using this macro lens with my Sony A6300. Yes, you have to set the aperture manually, but in A mode auto exposure works beautifully. Manual focus but you probably wanted that anyway in a macro lens. Sony focus peaking works to allow precision focusing at any spot you choose.
Most of what I shoot is macro using a tripod and manual settings. I don't have any use auto focus or image stabilization, and find my AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED unnecessarily big and heavy, with focus throw too short.
I bought this lens for product photography and am extremely happy with its results. If you are juggling between macro lenses for Sony-E mounts, this lens is a great, affordable option. You will find that manual focus actually provides a lot more control.
Manual focus and tripod are the prerequisites for macro photography. This lens completely corresponds to them. It has good optical characteristics. It is characterized by high quality materials and accurate assembly. It is convenient in work. High quality with a loyal price.
I bought this lens for macro photography and it was amazing, I will recommend it.
The centre of gravity of camera is moved much forward that it will be very shaky to mount on tripod using the mounting thread on body. I must custom make a dedicated lens holder with mounting thread to proper balance it onto a tripod.
I bought it to make macro with my Fuji XE3, and I'm happy with it. Also as telephoto it looks nice. I'm a little afraid of the weight and I would see this in practice
This lens has amazing Bokeh. Can be very sharp if you take the time to manually focus. This lens is also heavy.
I purchased this lens for insect and flower photography. I bought the Canon version and use it with an adapter on my Sony Nex6 body, in lieu of the much more expensive Sony 90mm Macro. I only use manual lenses for macro work, both for focusing and aperture.
