I used this mic for the first time last week and was very impressed with the audio quality and build. The on/off, -10db, high pass and boost buttons are easy to get to, and the blue LED indicator lights are easy to see.
Pure gold. Rode makes awesome products. I'm no audio expert, but I'm really happy with the quality coming from this thing.
Tried it out on some Foley work Recorded a VW bug for engine sound for a 8mm film. worked great.
I bought this to compare with a Rode NTG2 I had. The sound from the NTG4+ is more balanced and seems better in the mid range. The NTG4+ does not have the bass bias of the NTG2, which some people might miss (I don't). I ended up selling my NTG2 and am now going with the NTG4+.
Used for audiobook and youtube videos, mic has very little self noise and has adequate gain with Zoom H5
As a newbie to location sound, I was looking for best value for my limited budget. At < $400, the NTG4 was a great purchase for me. I just used it for a location shoot where we had a nearby 55mph highway, low flying private airplanes, approach vector for passenger jets and neighbors who have...
This is really a terrific microphone. Solidly built, good side rejection and a snap to use, it is my go-to shotgun for a lot of the film work I do. The price is excellent for the quality sound it delivers. And Rode stands by its gear.
Mic is crystal clear! Pairs great with my ursa mini pro! Sounds good on any settings!
Battery lasts long and charges quick and easy. Audio is fantastic.
I've been very happy with this mic so far. As an on-camera shotgun it picks up interview dialogue much cleaner and clearer and from surprisingly further away than I had anticipated. Its off-axis rejection is great as well.
