The Ricoh Theta 360 Degree Spherical digital camera is a compact device with a very specific use; capturing full spherical photos. Theta touts its convenience, considering most cameras require lining up images to achieve a flat panoramic photo.
Lightweight, Offers unique images
Price, Limited use, Average image quality
The Ricoh Theta is compact camera that captures unique 360° spherical images, but it's on the pricey side and battery life is disappointing.
Captures unique 360-degree images. Wi-Fi is supported. Android and iOS compatibility. Very compact.
Pricey. Very limited battery life. Image quality isn't the greatest.
No question about it, our review of the Ricoh Theta S has been very different indeed -- as befits a camera so unique as this one. Usually, we pair the analytical with the subjective in our reviews, poring over every fine detail in the lab before we head out into the real world with an idea of where...
We've got to say, the Ricoh Theta is an odd device. We like the ability to pan around full 360 degree images and zoom in and out of all the details, as well as the remote trigger functions, but we do wonder if it actually has any other practical use.
i wasn't really interested when i got this , to me it was nothing more than a useless gadget shipped in mail , until the first photo. the awesome factor is huge with this one , it takes sometime to figure out the pc/mac app and video recording/uploading , yet its so simple to do on mobile.
Easy to Use, Good Battery Life
Poor Image Quality, Poor in Low Light
Get the warranty. The design does not protect the lenses and if scratch them, Ricoh will not repair. I scratched my latest one which I only had for 3 months and the tech literally told me I'm just out they will not repair.
Its easy to use. Small
If you scratch it, your out. Very poor low light and poor video quality.
This thing is awesome. The pictures are so cool and the app is pretty intuitive. I have found that the pictures are pretty clear with little noise even in low light. Certainly would recommend this for gadget freaks, camera buffs, or anyone that wants to do something different and creative with their...
The Ricoh Theta is a unique little camera. It's very lightweight, pocketable (in its included soft case, that is), and is very easy to use. It's more responsive than most compacts - you can turn it on and shoot pretty much right away.
Battery life, controllable w/smartphone app, decent IQ, sheer potential
Low light performance, plastic tripod mount, wifi can be finicky, cost
