That might make picking up the Ornata Chroma a deal-breaker. It’s a shame truly, because Razer has provided an innovative take on mechanical keys which we have to applaud. More conclusively, it’s designed a product which performs strongly and looks and feels well worth its price-tag in spite of some...
The Ornata Chroma keyboard implementation is unique: a combination between membrane rubber domes and the regular mechanical switches in order to have best of both worlds. These are integrated along with a medium-height keycap design for an even faster access to the keys.
The Razer Ornata Chroma uses an innovative mecha-membrane switch, but it can’t beat out a good mechanical.
The comfortable Razer Ornata can type and play with ease, but its hybrid membrane/mechanical keys aren't for everyone.

Hybrid keys add nothing, Similarly priced keyboards are better
Some prefer the reassuring clickety-clack of a noisy mechanical keyboard. Others crave the quiet spring of membrane keys. Razer’s Ornata keyboard combines the two into something called Mecha-Membrane, and it really is the best of both worlds.
When it comes to my keyboards and mice for my PC, I am a creature of habit. I find a good quality keyboard or mouse that fits my hand, feels good to use, and performs well and I stick with it. It’s a pretty rare occasion that a review item replaces one of my standard items for daily use.
It's not every day that you can say a peripheral company has done something inventive with its switches, but those days seem to be growing more frequent as the switch market speeds up and evolves thanks to new challengers like Gateron and Kailh.
If you’re looking for a great alternative to the standard MX Switches then look no further because the Razer Ornata Chroma is the keyboard for you. The Mecha-Membrane is a true game-changer and it’s hard to find any negative things to say about it, it’s simply great!
This is an interesting one. Mecha-membrane promises to reduce fatigue and help you actuate faster. A lot faster, thanks to the mid-height keycaps. You can read the brochure of the tech here.
Even for being a few years later from when it released, picking up this keyboard still holds to the quality and durability. The Chroma is always fun to play with and set up with Synapse. The magnetic wrist rest is one of the main reasons for choosing this particular keyboard.
10/10 would reccomend im a 13 year old gamer and this keyboard is amazing it responds fast and the LED lights are the type i have never seen before i have had many LED keyboards but none rival the Ornata Chroma with the great light scheme an all around amazing item
My other gaming keyboard is a full red switch mechanical so I get to compare, as this one is a special “Mecha-Membrane” hybrid design. It has a separate black wrist rest with non-slip rubber feet (as does the keyboard), but that doesn't show in my photo since my keyboard drawer already has the blue...
Make sure you download the razer synapse driver from the website online as it allows for more customization with the keyboard. Really awesome Razer product, cool random feature is it changes colors for characters on Overwatch!
Great keyboard. Love the feel. Much quieter than a mechanical, but you still feel like you’re using a full mechanical. RGB lighting is great too!
Quality was great... unfortunately every few days my custom color scheme failed. The whole reason I bought this keyboard was to code at night. VERY distracting for the colors to change when I specifically set them to a low blue light. The keyboard is also fairly loud which I was trying to avoid.
This is a beautiful keyboard, the lighting options are amazing and I'm able to sync the scheme with my razer mouse. The keys are clicky but have a soft feel, and the lower height of the keys make for smooth typing. The USB cord is made out of a braided material and looks very durable and flexible.
