Was looking to make a second larger venue DJ setup with some older 15 powered tops I had. The difference over my non-powered setup (18 and 15 sub/sat) was so noticeable that both kids and adults commented on how pounding the bass was.
We just used two of these side-by-side along with four K12's to support a band in an airplane hangar with 1200 people. The band was CRAZY impressed. I stood 200 feet away, and could actually feel my pants vibrating slightly.
Just replaced an old Mackie that blew out. Love this QSC. Clean articulate bass. I use it in the house audio system at a community center - about 2600 square feet, with 14' ceilings. It is used every day.
I have owned this sub for 2 years. I use it about 15 times a year for outdoor live bands. They send plenty of bass, and match well with my QSC HPR153 3-way tops. This sub thumps. It came with a threaded pole for the top, so that a smaller PA speaker can be mounted above.
wow!! thats all i can say about this sub.
A DJ "MUST HAVE"!! If you are a DJ just starting out, resist the temptation to buy one of those $700 active subs out there. Also don't buy the K-SUB for DJ use- it is not enough (learned that the hard way). After approx.
I bought the QSC KW181 subs for my mobile DJ system. They are perfect for use in larger venues and take up little space. They are very easy to set up and the casters make it easy to transport. The sound is clean, warm, tight, deep and loud.
I have come to love these subs. I rely on them in my live sound business rvalivesound.com and they have been putting out the bass since day one without missing a beat. I can't imagine working with anything less at this point.
I've been using a pair of these sub for almost 2 months now. I love them. I use them for a band with an audience of 300 - 400. The kick with an Audix D6 mic sounds awesome through these subs.
