I love the sound, paired with a high quality receiver (Yamaha Aventage) they are very clear and musical. I was afraid that the size was going to be too large and that I should have gone with the R500 to avoid getting in trouble with the Mrs...
Look, sound, build quality, price was fair (bought on sale made it even more compelling)
The spiked dome can be dangerous if you have kids or maybe some curious pets - keep the grilles on if this is your situation. Be careful not to damage it when removing them from the box.
I had ELAC Debut bookshelf speakers and i wanted to replace with good tower speakers for my theater. I shortlisted few including B&W 7 series, Klipsch r8000 series. I read through good reviews for Polk reserve series. I got these on sale.
Most of my rating of these speakers boils down to: they didn't jive for my taste. I had a pair of Polk LSiM705 very briefly a few years ago, and one thing I noticed with those (and unfortunately with these as well) is what I would describe a smearing in the bass/lacks detail or definition.
Handsome looking speakers, especially in walnutPunchy bassOffers good amount of detail up top.
Wider feet for tall slim tower speakers pleaseThe down-firing port still manage to activate/vibrate my floors.
Built on their legends series topological these speakers deliver performance at a more reasonable price. When coupled with a quality capable amp (not AVR or receiver) that will deliver enough power the entire line just sings! I replaced my entire system with the reserve line.
Great sounding speaker for mid-sized room. After 30 hours of break in these speakers produced really nice soundstage, low end had punch, upper range very clean. Best speaker in its class. Glad I bought them!
Purchased 03/23. Very good. A hair bright at times but not fatiguing. I disagree with those reporting these are bass heavy and believe a sub is needed. Well built. No complaints with quality or clarity and only nicked a star based on value.
I was shopping for the R700 but no one had it in stock. I tried these and really liked the sound but the white vinyl finish didn't go with my room.....I have seen pictures of the walnut vinyl wrap and sometimes it looks nice and cheap at other times...
I've been using Polk Bookshelf R15s for the past 20 years for my 5.1 surround sound setup. Finally decided to upgrade and replace my Left and Right speakers with R600s. I have to say I'm very impressed with sound quity and build.
Great highs and distinct lows make this a great set of speakers for my living room. I don not need anything bigger as R600 Polk audio fit my wants from classical to rock music.
One of the best speakers I have heard is the Polk Audio R-600. The high frequencies are so clear that they give me the impression that there are cymbals in my room. The image is perfect, the bass is tight and deep, the mid frequencies are airy and rich when heard on recordings with female voices.
