This is the third of the Pentax Limited hand assembled lenses that are designed for film. Pentax have always offered some odd focal lengths and this 77mm equates to a 35mm-equivalent of 115.5mm when used on an APS-C format DSLR.

I now use a 15 mm, 31 mm, and 50 mm focal length primes for almost all of my photography. Unless I am in an auditorium and can't move, this trio of lenses gives me the range I need for landscapes and portraits. The FA 31mm has very high resolution and very good bocah.

This lens has delivered everything I had anticipated!!! My CaNikon friends asked me why I bought this lens when I already had a 100mm Macro WR lens (they also smirked about the odd 77mm focal length). Well, it's just a better lens for portraits.

The Pentax FA 77mm Limited is quite simply one of the best prime lenses for portraiture that I have ever used. I've used the best lenses from Nikon, Canon, Olmypus, Fujifilm, Leica and Zeiss over the course of my career and if you're looking for a short telephoto prime that is razor sharp even when...

    Slow Focus

It is hard to find any true faults with this lens once you accept the price of entry. It is a sensational lens to use, and renders beautiful images. It may not have the fastest Autofocus, but you would be hard pressed to not have a blast shooting with this lens.

This is one impressive lens. First off, the build quality tells you it's meant to be around for a long time. All metal construction feels like the old days (one craveat: polycarbonate is more thermally stable than metal, but polycarbonate doesn't give that "jewel like" feel, so metal it is).

Sharper wide open than most lenses, which counts for a lot in a portrait lens. Getting the leading eye in focus doesn't mean the rest of the image is soft, just not as well focused! Exactly the effect we want., Small and light, and amazingly well built.

Price. But it's worth it. Just try it!!!
