This is the third of the Pentax Limited hand assembled lenses that are designed for film. Pentax have always offered some odd focal lengths and this 77mm equates to a 35mm-equivalent of 115.5mm when used on an APS-C format DSLR.
Given the high construction standards, superb image quality and the compact construction this lens is a great prospect for portraiture and general travel. Its cost is higher than the average plastic bodied lens, but in terms of what it delivers I feel the price is a justifiable one.
This is the perfect accessory for my K1 and K5IIs. Having researched this purchase extensively, my expectations were high. I was definitely not disappointed, as the lens provides outstanding IQ and speed. The build is really old school, in that it is as robust as my old SMCP's from the film era.
Gorgeous to hold. Much handier than the FA85/1.4 (which I haven't really used since I got the 77mm). But the prize is the creamy bokeh and sharpness without being harsh. Little too small on the PZ1, but perfect on the MZ5. Doesn't scare the sitter

Beautiful portraits. Small compact size. Luxurious feel.

Slow AF. Hard to find matching (silver) filters. The slip on cap isn't really practical with a filter on.
I've had this lens for about a year now, using on my K-1, and it's now my favorite lens for Pentax, bar none. I've also got the 77 ltd, 100m macro, and 70 - 200 D-FA*. This beats them all (though all are excellent).
this lens is my favorite. A great sharpness in my opinion the best in short telephoto. very small and light

Bought this to use primarily as a portrait lens for the K-5ii and the K-1 once it comes out in a few weeks. So no feedback yet on how it works not he latter, but on the former, it's a dream. Solid construction, beautiful bokeh, and tack sharp where it needs to be.
This lens is an all time classic. Few glasses have the legacy and the charisma of this little guy. The legendary 3D effect, color rendition, sharpness starting from a few stops from wide open and rendition for full/half size portraits at max aperture is real.
