Love this lens. It's extremely sharp (especially center frame), utterly silent and quick to focus, can create lovely bokeh, and handles comfortably. Before I bought it, I thought image quality might be a noticeable compromise from my go-to 31 limited as a walkaround lens, and it's most definitely...
Smaller than I anticipated for a 24-70 f/2.8; takes great photos with fast focusing. Not a lot to complain about. Used it in a rainforest with active rain for ~4h without any worries about moisture.
I purchased this FF lens prior to getting a K1. I used it with my K3 body and had no issues whatsoever. Compared to my DA* 16-50 lens, the results were very similar but sometimes it seemed that the DA* was superior. The colour seemed to be more to my liking with the DA*.
Giving 3 stars for this lens is extremely generous on my part. I have now purchased and returned 4 of these lenses. LENS #1: 24mm soft borders, 35mm extremely soft. Shooting f5 was unacceptable, had to stop down to f8-f13 and NOT view images large enough to be displayed in Full Frame native...
This is one tank of a lens, burly and fit for purpose describes this lens.If your hiking your gear across country, this lens might stay at home despite its optical brilliance. Throwing my Billingham into the back of the Land Rover for a days shooting, this is the go to lens.
Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Rugged, Sharp Focus, Strong Construction
This is an excellent lens. I've been using it as my daily driver for the better part of a year, and I've yet to be disappointed. I verified the focus adjustment when I first got the lens, and it was perfect, no adjustment required. Focus is fast and image quality is sharp.
Lighter and smaller than the 15-30, much lighter and smaller than the 70-200. A fine walk around lens for the K-1.
This is now my everyday lens, 95% of all photos are taken with this lens. Its everything you need in a lens and is HEAVY but, balanced with the K-1 in weight and easy of use.
Its a re-badged Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 for Pentax mount. It gains: a. Weather sealing instead of moisture resistance. b. Proprietary Pentax HD coatings. It loses: a. Image stabilization (Not needed as Pentax has IBIS) b. Price advantage. c.
My first day with this lens was at a pride parade in Columbus OH and this lens was the perfect one for this and any other walking around application. Very sharp, very portable, and supremely great images. Just what I have come to expect from Pentax.
