this is a heavy lens not for hiking but perfect so far for what it is intended for. so far i have used it on a tripod mounted on a K3 with the converter which gives me more reach and have got some nice shots of wildlife so far. when it gets warmer i will use a tripod and a blind.
This is a pro-quality, all weather lens. Razor sharp, even wide open. Good contrast, low chromatic aberration. It focuses fairly close – 2 m, and the autofocus is smooth, fast, and silent. It’s also very accurate. I use the lens mostly for birds and other wildlife.
