I wanted a digital zoom lens for my new K-1, having only older FA limited lenses and not wanting to shell out almost the same amount as I did on the camera. It focuses very quiet and fast, it takes good pictures outdoors, as stated buy another review, get the DA F 24-70 f2.8 if you plan to do any...
This is a very good lens for traveling. The zoom range allows for both wide-angle panoramas and close-ups on the go. At f8 - f11 apertures the sharpness is more than decent so it's basically a day lens, although on a tripod by night or when using a ND filter it also delivers.
Light, sharp, useful zoom range, little distortion or CA, and comparatively inexpensive. Little to criticize unless you need more speed, if so you will pay a price in cost and weight.
Only had limited use up to now, but very pleased so far. Purchased mainly as a lighter alternative to the monster 24-70 zoom for use with the Pentax K1, but haven't had much occasion to use the lens with that camera yet, so can't really comment on its performance full frame, especially edge...
Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Quick Focus, Sharp Focus
This is a very good walk around all day lens. I use it constantly and the quality is good.
I bought this lens with the K-1 and have been very happy with the picture quality. Up until recently, kit lenses were of lower quality and people viewed them as good entry level purchases.
This is my new walk-around lens. It is sharp as a tack, and at f/3.5 it is fast enough for almost everything. It only comes off my K-1 when I am in a very low light position, or need a longer telephoto lens
The zoom hangs up. After 4 months of very light use, something inside came loose and it stops it from turning.
Works for me as a basic lens on my Pentax Full Frame K1 camera. Easy to use and totally awesome picture quality. Quality solidly built lens. This is not cheap plastic construction. Fine optics for a lens in this price point.
This is a great lens. This is actually my 2nd lens my first one fell over on the tripod and hit head on. It still worked, the the zoom ring was a little stiff to rotate. It's nice and clear and a great all around lens.
