Use has been limited so far, but the image quality is great and so good that I've retired my Zeiss ZK 28/2 Distagon. I use a Fotodiox WonderPana66 filter system (specified for the Tamron 15-30/2.8) on it and that too works very well.
This is my first wide angle lens and I couldn't be any happier with this purchase. Coupled with the PentaxK-1 this lens produces some amazingly sharp and clear images. Its a serious piece of glass, great build quality and good looks.
Gotta love this lens. I hesitated for quite a while as I fretted over not being able to use a filter (in the conventional sense). The user feedback regarding the hardiness of the coatings, and the fact that my DA 10-17 fisheye is still doing well convinced me to go ahead.
This is a sharp and fast-focusing lens. But also, It is a bit on the side of large & heavy. The price is high, but that goes with the quality, including its being weather-resistant. I use it with my Pentax K-1 DSLR.
I've only had this lens for less than a month, but have taken some astral photos with great success. It's a very fast lens with no more than trivial amounts of distortion at the periphery. Focusing and other adjustments are smooth, fast and quiet.
This is a sharp, fast-focusing lens with no signs of chromatic aberration. It is a bit on the side of large & heavy. The price is high, but that goes with the quality, including its being weather-resistant. I use it with my Pentax K-1 DSLR.
I have only used this lens for a short while. It's big, expensive and is a challenge to take along and fit in my bag. It needs a strong tripod and I have the RRS plate for the K1, which helps a lot. For me, it's been most fun as a walk around lens.
Great lens, corner to corner sharpness!
GIVES GREAT WIDE ANGLE COVERAGE - COMPLETES TRINITY OF LENS FROM 15 ~ 200MM FOR ME.GREAT 2.8 F STOP ACROS FOCAL RANGECAREFUL ABOUT PUTTING SUBJECT NEAR EDGE OF FRAME WILL DISTORT FACES
I was very nervous about buying this since it is a Tamron rebadge (though built to Pentax specs). After talking to fellow photographers that have used the Nikon version, I was willing to take a chance. Very impressed so far. Tack sharp at 3.5 (and really very passable at 2.8) with minimal barreling.
