I am an amateur photographer. I use the lens with my K 50. It has produced great pictures. I highly recommend the lens. I use it for taking sports and wildlife photo.
I purchased this lens in November 2016. I've used it for maybe 100 shots. All of a sudden the lock button has failed. Unfortunately, Ricoh USA's only authorized repair center doesn't even list this lens as a repair option, sending you on an endless loop of "contact us" pages.
This lens is so clear and sharp image after image after image! I would recommend this to anyone who shoots wildlife especially! The range is phenomenal!! I have not had a shot that has not been anything but amazing!! The colors are absolutely incredible!
I don't use long lenses very much, but this has a useful range starting at 55mm. It's light in weight, and sharp. There is a locking button which stops the lens expanding and the camera taking pictures, so you have to remember to press it, even when shooting at its widest.
Very compact and portable telephoto lens. I'm happy with how fast it focuses. The pictures are terrific.
What a lens! Incredibly quick to focus and just about totally silent. I've had this for eight months now and it's a delight to use and is my standard 'go to' lens. Have a look at Pentaxforums.com for an in depth review.
a good addition to my Pentax16-85mm for my K3. A bit soft at 300mm but the fast auto-focus compensates for that for me and it is sharp to just over mid range. Only works on the latest Pentax models, some may have to have firmware updated as mine did, or it will only work on full open.
If you have a Pentax that supports this lens, it's killer. Not all Pentax cameras support adjusting the aperture from the camera on this lens and there is no way to set the aperture manually from the lens. I'm using it with a K-70 and it's sorta amazing. Very sharp.
Just used at Kruger National Park, and the lens performed beautifully. Focus is quick and quiet with no hunting; images are sharp throughout the focal range, even at 300mm in good light. Weather sealing was a bonus in dusty conditions.
This is a great lens, currently I am using this as my primary daily lens, and so far it's been flawless. I have been using this with my K-70 and so far it's been flawless, images are sharp and the focusing speed is very fast (and it's silent when focusing too!
