Works perfectly with my K-50 after the firmware update. This lens is noticeably sharper than the 18-135mm kit lens and has fantastic auto focus speed, especially if not using live view.
I needed a long lens for a trip to Africa which I took in Feb-Mar of 2018 and my wife was sweet enough to buy me this lens for my K-5. The lens was great. It is compact when you are not using it and it is very sturdy and sharp.
This is a great lens. The best thing about this lens for me is that it works with my Pentax K-S2 that has aperture block. The camera is out of warranty so that I could not get it fixed. It works great on general landscape photos and on sunsets!
Finally, I had the opportunity to bring the lens into action, taking beautiful pictures of Old San Juan in Puerto Rico, including the San Juan Bay. I am very pleased with the lens, the colors and not very heavy. An excellent product from Pentax, as always.
Excellent!! Thank you!!
I bought this lens because my 18-135 mm lens didn't have the reach that I really wanted. I read a review on this lens in a camera shopper magazine and decided to go for it.For the price I'm very happily surprised with how well this lens performs, quite sharp between the full range of 55 to 300 mm.
Still doing well. no complaints from the Mrs. She's happy we're all happy xp
I had the original 55-300 that succumbed to a fall recently, and this is every bit as good optically, if not better. It is very light and compact for a zoom of this range, but it does lose half an aperture stop with respect to its predecessor.
When I first opened the package that was delivered a day early by UPS , I barely glanced at it before I had it on my K-3. I pointed it toward the closest bird feeder, pushed the rear auto focus button and.......nothing. First bad word!! I looked a little more carefully, pushed the locking button.
This is one of the fastest focusing lens I have ever used. I have used it with a KS1 and it has given me amazing results. Great clarity and detail. And I've used Canon and Nikon products for years. For anything comparable in price this beats them hands down.
