Upgrading from an old screw-drive motor lens this is a welcome addition to my camera bag. The pulse motor focuses much faster (aside from a few max focal range changes) and is entirely silent compared to the screw-drive.
Works perfectly with my K-50 after the firmware update. This lens is noticeably sharper than the 18-135mm kit lens and has fantastic auto focus speed, especially if not using live view.
I'm an amateur amateur photographer and I love this lens. I added it to my K-70 to go with the 18-135 it was bundled with. Fast focus and very crisp images.
I purchased this lens about a week ago to go along with my Pentax K-70 camera. I wanted a lens that could "reach out and touch someone". I am very much the novice with respect to DSLR photography and have only learned enough to use this lens in the full auto mode.
This is the fastest focusing lens in the Pentax lineup and also the quietest. I bought this little gem on April 9th and have shot it many times. It has breathed new life into my K-3 with super fast auto focus which is very precise. Continuous AF is excellent, the tracking is quick and precise.
Bought this lens along with the K-3ii about two weeks ago. Didn't work until I did the firmware update. Had to use the autofocus micro adjustment to get decent results. Even looked into returning the entire purchase.
I bought this lens reluctantly. The reviews available indicated it might not be as good as I thought I needed, but the better choice was four times the price. Now that I have it, I know that this lens is well suited to my needs. Birds in flight were beyond my old lens because of slow auto focus.
Very happy with this lens choice. Havn't taken it off since I got it a few weeks ago. Even able to take some "Macro" type shots (from about 3 ft. away @ max zoom). My only issue so far is my RAW converter of choice dosn't cover it for corrections (yet, I assume).
I needed a long lens for a trip to Africa which I took in Feb-Mar of 2018 and my wife was sweet enough to buy me this lens for my K-5. The lens was great. It is compact when you are not using it and it is very sturdy and sharp.
This is a great lens. The best thing about this lens for me is that it works with my Pentax K-S2 that has aperture block. The camera is out of warranty so that I could not get it fixed. It works great on general landscape photos and on sunsets!
