This is great lens to have for the Pentax 67 system. It has slightly but noticeably wider field of view, which makes it more all round and versatile than the 105 mm in my opinion. It is shorter and more light weight making it more comfortable to carry along.

Compact, versatile, nice field of view

The bokeh quality is not as good as the 105
I have had the lens for approximately one week, and so far I have been quite pleased with it's performance especially at f2.8. The software upgrade to the camera was strait forward with no problems encountered. The anti shack system works well but can not be used in combination with HDR.
This is one of the best and most versatile lenses in Pentax 6X7 system. It, along with 45mm F4, 75mm F2.8 AL and 165mm F4 LS, is my most trusted and reliable companion when I want to travel light with Pentax 6X7 - if such thing is even possible!

Compact (as far as Pentax 67 lenses go), no visible distortion, close minimal focusing distance

The more I use this lens, the more I like it. While it took a small amount of learning curve to figure out the Pentax 645Z, the use of this lens surely helped. It is tack sharp and compares favorable with my Canon 85mm 1.2 as well as my Canon 100mm Macro lens.
It so happened that when I got my first Pentax 67 many years ago it was equipped with this lens. It is a great all-around standard lens for everyday use, truly versatile, compact and light weight with the great image quality. You may read about my own experincу:

I own both, the 67 SMC 105mm 2.4 and 67 SMC 90mm 2.8. To me the 90mm is more convenient then the 105mm because it's a bit wider. The aperature difference between 2.4 and 2.8 is not to much IMHO. If I would have to choose I would go for the 90mm over the 105mm.

Very close to the 105 mm which is a better lens
...for couples, head shots, candids, macros. This lens is ultra sharp, the chroma is much better controlled then the older 645FA series lenses. I had been using the 150mm f/2.8 which is a great lens but with no IS and chroma just bad enough to make correction difficult I'm relieved to have this...
I recently purchased this lens along with a Pentax 645z outfit and couldn't be more impressed. I have compared the results of this and several other Pentax lenses with comparable ones captured with my PhaseOne IQ180 outfit, and in every case the Pentax images are sharper, more detailed and with...
I can't speak for its macro abilities (as I have not tested them), but this 90mm is in the same category with the other absolutely recommended lens for the 645 system, the 25mm f/4 AL (IF) SDM AW. Both lenses are pricey, but well worth the investment, as they won't disappoint.
