This is an amazing lens that does everything you'd want it to. It's light, fast and extremely versatile. The colours are great and the image quality is excellent. Sharp images from f/2.8 and upward.
Sharp, great FoV range
None, possibly the best lens on the system
This is a good lens when it works. There is a history of this lens having focusing failure for no apparent reason. Because the focus is electrical, when the focus fails the lens is unusable and is usually replaced rather than repaired. You might want to get an extended warranty if you can.
I use my mirrorless camera primarily for street photography, since it is less conspicuous than a DSLR with zoom or telephoto lens. I love the size of the lens, very compact and light. The zoom is smooth and easy, and the autofocus is quick.
It has a known issue of the internal focusing failing without cause, unrepairable if out of warranty, take your chances on a replacement from Pentax if under warranty. Because it is a focus-by-wire, it appears to be a failure of the circuitry, when it fails it cannot be used in any mode.
If you have a Pentax Q, this is a great addition, making an equivalent 84-252 zoom lens. I'm happy with the performance, but even better... It was in a thin microfiber lens bag, and I dropped it from waist high onto a concrete floor. No detectable damage at all.
perfect for my pentax q camera arrive on time
This is a really high quality lens. I love taking this attached to my Pentax Q10 for sporting events and concerts where full size SLR's are not allowed. The photos for this review were all taken from the same location about 60 yards from the stage.
with approx 240mm 35mm equiv, I still want more zoom but Q doesn't have it. This 15-45 lens has its place but I haven't found it. Surely a better outdoor lens in the pentax lineup exists... so far, I'm getting blotchy + blah but still feeling out the q system.
Great price on a great lens
of the size and weight and price (with about 4 times the depth of field.) Even an MF/T 35-100 f2.8 is about five times as big, five times as heavy, and five times as expensive.
