Maybe one of the best zooms I have ever had in my over 20 years in photography - beats all the other micro four standard zoomsStays on the camera very often
Compact, Convenient, Durable, Easy to use, Exceeded expectations, Inexpensive
Bought this to use on my Micro for general purpose stuff. Even with the BMMCCs big crop factor, I can still frame a good waist-up green screen shot in tight quarters, and while its not a hefty zoom, for day-to-day stuff, it zooms in pretty tightly.
Very clear zoom lens. The OIS works well and the manual zoom is better than using the other Panasonic zoom that has the mechanized zoom. The only drawback is the limited 3.5 aperture at the widest zoom and the very constricting 5.6 at the furthest zoom.
I use Olympus OM-D cameras and wasn't happy with my kit zoom lens. I saw a lot of online recommendations for this lens, so decided to give it a try. It's an older lens, bigger than the newer zooms covering the 14-42mm range. The zoom ring is large, rubbery, and tactile.
a bit outdated
I tested with Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. The OIS worked well because it has the switch on the camera for compatibility. The issues were some slight distortion on edges. The lens isn't fast and it's not constant aperture so on the Telephoto end it's only f5.6 which is slow.
Versatile and useful in documentary use. Not a fast lens but great to have in the arsenal.
Quick, fun to use lens, gets the results, fast focus, capable of even poetic, fascinating images. The only limit is what you can do as a photographer.
Convenient, Easy to use, Inexpensive, fun to use
zoom action a bit sticky
I have been using this lens on my black magic pocket camera for travel. For it's price it is brilliant. It's range of zoom makes it quite versatile and the OIS does a good job of removing small shakes during hand held recording.
I bought this lens because I needed something wide. It still not as wide as I would like. The build quality is nowhere near that of the HD lenses. It's plastic with a sticky zoom.
Compact, Convenient, Inexpensive
Did not meet expectations, Poor quality
I have a number of Olympus and Panasonic prime lenses, yet this is the lens I use the most. While the 14-42 kit lens that came on my G5 is stiff and hard to zoom, this lens is smooth zooming and a lot sharper. Since upgrading to a GX7 I am still getting excellent results with this lens.
