The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. Mega O.I.S. is a good starter lens for Micro Four Thirds shooters, but it's not a standout.
Compact. Good sharpness through most of range. Minimal distortion. Optically stabilized. Includes lens hood.
Soft edges and dim corners at widest angle. Plastic lens mount.
Experience hybrid photography capture in photo or 4K and HD video with a far more intense viewing and creativity experience.
Panasonic continues to improve its kit lens, somehow making it smaller, lighter, and sharper than the previous version. At the time of writing you can't buy it separately, so it's just worth saying that it makes an excellent starter lens for the G- or GF- series camera you buy it with.
Handling and features This new, standard zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras covers a range equivalent to a 28-84mm lens on a 35mm camera, sports a compact design and optical image stabilisation.
In terms of sheer optical performance the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH O.I.S. is pretty impressive lens despite its low price tag. When looking at the auto-corrected results, and this is where it counts from a user perspective, it's capable of producing quite good results.
small. lite lens. perfect for the small 4/3 cameras. This newer small and light lens is much better than the previous larger and heavier kit lens. prints are sharp on 4x6 paper, which is all I have right now.
The performance of this lens is hard to believe. I have the Oly 12-40 F2.8 Pro. This lens is half the weight 20% of the cost and has 90% of its performance. Period. I bought this with the Panasonic GF6 as its kit lens. It converted me to M4/3 so I got an OMD M1. This lens is responsible!
Light, sharp, cheap, good OIS. Unbelievable....
Not good picture quality for Xenmuse X5s espicially when using Zoom lens
Excellent lens. Much better than the first model of this lens. Highly recommended.
This is an incredible kit lens, and a wonderful starting option for anyone looking switch to a micro four-thirds system!
Perfect lens. Good value.
This is one of the best rated and highest reviewed lenses out there, and it's for a good reason. I don't really have a lot to say about it that hasn't already been said except to say that this is the first modern lens I have purchased in years and my goodness, the image stabilization and how quiet...
very good love it so much <3
It's pretty ok for what it does. Low light is an issue with this lens on Panasonic GH3/GH4 but that's the nature of a lens construction with this aperture range.
