This standard zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds (MFT) system cameras may not seem like anything special when looking at the on-paper specification, but it collapses down to a minuscule 24mm long.
I love this lens! Its small, and is a great companion to my pancake lens and small enough to carry around easily while shooting and still have a wider angled lens!
I own way too many Micro four thirds lenses, including the excellent Panasonic 12-35 2.8 and the equally Olympus 12-40 2.8. I recently took a ten day trip overseas, and as much as I love those two lenses, they are more than I wanted to carry. I put this on my GX8 and traveled light for a change.
Excellent lens for the money. Nice and compact. Very sharp pictures.
The lens is a great idea, and maybe I just got a defective one, but it pretty much fell apart after a short while using it. I can make it work still but the outer ring popped off and some little tab inside broke off, so hard to zoom with it.
These are good cheap zoom lenses. Just make sure you know what you are buying. One version comes with a plastic mount and is worth much less money. It will be black where it mounts to the camera. These can be had for 3/4th the price. Most of these have been removed from a camera kits and work fine.
This lens is wonderfully compact and light, and it's the perfect focal range for photography in Utah canyons. Unfortunately, it isn't very robust. I've now destroyed two of these - the second one failed after only two days of use.
Great, versatile and extremely compact kit lens. Very happy with the image quality and the wide angle capability. However, be aware that there is no manual focus ring on this lens. I have an Olympus body so this means I can't manually focus it at all.
This lens met my expectations
This is a great lens, probably the best small zoom for M4/3 we've used. Like the fact that is doesn't make the camera huge and gives you a nice range. We tried the Olympus 12-40 F2.8 and while it was a great piece of glass it made any M4/3 body we paired it with awkward to hold and that lens is very...
This lens arrived in a plastic bag loosely inside the box, it came with only the front cap but not the rear. The lens itself seem to work fine, it's light and easy to carry around, but it does not have a manual focus ring. Unlike the 20mm f1.7 it require a turn to pop it out before operating.
