Andy Westlake puts an inexpensive fast normal prime lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras to the test.
Much of the performance of this lens is exemplary, especially considering the modest cost. The only real drawback is the susceptibility to flare, which is very evident in shots taken into the light. If this can be accepted then the lens is without doubt an excellent proposition.
High levels of sharpness, Low distortion, Low CA, Close focusing, Well made
No weather resistance, Flare levels high against the light
Just started this photography hobby, and felt that I needed a decent nifty-fifty. The body I'm using is an Olympus OM-D EM10. IQ wise, it seems pretty nice. Comparing it to the 14-42mm kit lens, it definitely gives a nicer bokeh, very milky. Understandable due to an F1.7.
I'd read all the reviews and watched the you tube clips before I decided to send for this lens so was expecting great things from it . Im not disappointed in anyway now its arrived and is on my lumix G6 , it really is has fantastic as they all say and for this price such a superb lens seems a steal...
Fast lense ,quick auto focus, and sharp pictures
It's very good. The removeable 'beauty rings' which facilitates the use oa a lens hood is a really barmy idea.
This lens is compact, light and focusses very quickly on Olympus OMD-EM5. Picture quality is sharp enough for me wide open at F1.7. The lens seems very good value for money to me!
Great lens fir the price.
I love it but only with it had IS.
Great little lens sharp wide open, slightly soft at corners.
This compact, fast, and light "normal" lens for the MFT format performs very well over a wide range of stops (from wide open at f1.7 to a bit beyond f11). For many purposes (including for shooting infrared photos, for which it is excellent), this lens is a very good choice since it is sharp to the...
Got it for just $98 but even for the $180 that is listed now, this lens is great value. Finally an affordable standard bright lens for the 4/3 system. The optics are more than decent, in the center it is adequately sharp even wide open.
