The Panasonic G9 is one of the most well-balanced Micro Four Thirds camera to date. Capable of super fast burst speeds, with reliable AF as well as good-looking 4K, this camera can easily handle double duty.

  • +

Just about any photographer craving a camera that can handle both high-speed still photography and 4K/HD-video duty. Anyone seeking complete control of their camera.

  • -

Serious sports and action shooters, who would be better suited buying a camera with phase detect AF.

“The Lumix G9 is the new benchmark for Micro Four Thirds.”

  • +

Great build quality, Intelligent control layout, 80MP high-resolution mode, 5-axis in-body stabilization, 6K photo and 4K video

  • -

Burst rate has odd limitations, Smaller sensor than similarly sized/priced competitors

The Panasonic G9 is a very fast and effective camera for both 4K video and fast-action sports and wildlife photography. It’s unexpectedly substantial in your hands, which gives you a good grip, especially with longer lenses, and its image quality is very good, despite the smaller MFT sensor.

  • +

20/60fps continuous shooting, 4K UHD video with 10-bit capture, Fast and effective autofocus

  • -

Some viewfinder lag in burst mode, Smaller sensor than most rivals, Lacks DSLR battery life

The Lumix G9 is a confident high-performance camera that's a joy to use. The tough weatherproof body feels great in your hands with excellent controls, there's an enormous viewfinder image, a fully-articulated touchscreen with an excellent user interface, fast autofocus and burst shooting that can...

The Panasonic Lumix G9 is a unique camera that delivers all the features one could want in a state-of-the-art mirrorless camera, and then some. It delivers impressive speed in both autofocus acquisition time and especially in its framing rates for both JPEG and Raw images.

The company’s flagship stills model, the G9 is a Micro Four Thirds with a whole lot of punch. With a 20.3MP sensor, and powered by the trusty Venus processing engine, it’s capable of shooting at 20fps, blackout free in continuous autofocus, or a massive 60fps with the focus set.

Overall, we consider the G9 the best camera Panasonic has made so far, particularly for enthusiast photographers who are mainly interested in shooting stills but also like to take high-resolution movies occasionally. It’s also the best-equipped M4/3 camera on the current market.

With mighty impressive image stabilisation, an ultra-sensitive shutter, super-fast burst mode, accomplished continuous autofocus and burst shooting, plus a viewfinder that's unrivalled by any mirrorless model, the G9 really is the finest mirrorless camera that money can buy.

  • +

Huge range of Micro Four Thirds lenses (incl. new 200mm f/2.8 Leica) ensure top image quality, Massive viewfinder and useful vari-angle LCD, 4K video and 6K stills modes, Super-fast burst modes, Accomplished continuous autofocus, Pinpoint AF mode

  • -

Viewfinder eyecup could fit tighter, Optional battery grip should offer two batteries, Smaller LCD screen than GH5, Smaller sensor than some rivals, No 'super raw' with post-focus adjustment (like Canon 5D IV)

After getting into Photography with an entry Nikon d3300 I decided to do some research in to getting a decent upgrade. As someone who's fortunate enough to travel the world a lot with my job and the ever increasing demands of Airlines to keep weight down i decided to take the plunge with the Lumix...

The Panasonic Lumix G9 was a game changer for me. It has tons of features that you can find in the stats and specs. In this review, I would like to go over the main features that made it a game changing camera for me. IBIS, AF, Low light.

This is useless for indoor video shooting in 50hz countries as you'll get flicker in your shot. No reason to limit the software to 60hz frame rates only.

I have been using the G9 for a few days now and here are my first impressions. First, it's big. DSLR big. I would really like it to be a lot smaller. To me, size is one of m43 biggest advantages against other formats. But I knew it was big before buying it.

Is that once you've used one everything just feels a bit pedestrian afterwards. So here's my take on it, and for the TLDR crowd - "The best camera I've ever owned". Stick around and I'll explain why.

great, big, heavy DSLM camera - but very good in most lightning situations, best electronic viewfinder till now. Fast and very good to handle, lot of fantastic and sharp lenses.
