My wife and I recently moved to an independent living community so I need to reconfigure my stereo equipment. The Onkyo unit had the features I needed - bluetooth, optical TV input, and a subwoofer output. The unit went into my living room and has surpassed all my expectations.

  • +

Has all the features I need.Sensitive FM reception.

  • -

    Absolutely none.

My wife and I replaced our old stereo system and we are very pleased with our choice. It's ideally what we wanted in a stereo because we didn't want or need a mega-bells-and-whistles home theater surround sound receiver.

I put this in my shop 1200 sq ft shop and have been impressed with it. Strong blue tooth signal and plenty of power.

Bought this as part of a simple, economical setup (Polk bookshelf speakers plus an old Mirage sub) in our guest room/reading room. The phono input, TV optical input, CD digital coax input and bluetooth capabilities provide a variety of listening options. Am very pleased with performance.

    Very versatile.

  • -

    None so far.

I had an old Onkyo analog receiver, so I knew the brand was of high quality, and this new one is just what I wanted. I converted my CDs to a computer, and I still had Bose analogue speakers, and the system works great.

It’s great and I like the fact that it has Bluetooth.

Sound quality was good and has all of the necessary features for basic listening, but was seriously lacking in power. Did not produce any audible output until the volume control was nearly 75% to max. I can't recommend this received for anything other than nearfield listening.

  • -

Lacks sufficient power for normal listening

Nice receiver; however, none of the controls on the front of the receiver are backlit making it near impossible to control speaker selection and other adjustments without a flashlight (ours is in a stereo stand).

Great receiver could use more power It’s great to have the Wi-Fi

Using this receiver to help replace a Sonos Play:5 (Gen 1) in my home office that Sonos was ending updates for. Connected a new Sonos Connect:Port (replacing Play:5) and driving an older Polk satellite/sub system I had laying around.

  • +

Ability to assign digital inputs (optical or coax) to any other input source. In my case, I assigned the coax digital input to the "line" source for the Connect:Port. The "line" input was analog by default.

  • -

Can't rename the inputs on the display. Would like to rename "line" to "Sonos", but that's not configurable.
