With an effective focal length of 90mm and a maximum aperture of f1.8, the lens is ideal for portrait work and can deliver sharp detail on the subject with a satisfyingly blurred background behind it. Likewise for closer subjects down to the nearest focusing distance of 0.5m.

Superb image quality. Sharp right into the corners at f4., f1.8 focal ratio ideal for shallow depth of field (relative to MFT lenses)., Great value for money., Incredibly small and light., No compatibility issues to report on Panasonic or Olympus bodies.

Modest closest focusing distance of 0.5m means it's no macro lens., Lens hood not supplied as standard - it's an optional extra., Lack of optical stabilisation may be an issue for Panasonic owners., No weather-sealing.
In short, although the 45mm f/1.8 lens is a stunning and well-priced lens it cannot match the exquisite feel of its 12mm f/2 stable-mate. Nevertheless, this is the first lens ever to hit 0.5 cycles-per-pixel and that alone secures its place in WDC hall-of-fame for lens tests.
Olympus M. Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 This medium telephoto optic for Micro Four Thirds compatible cameras sports a fast maximum aperture of f/1.8, internal silent focusing and a low price of around £250.
This is a masterpiece. Sharp, distortion free, huge amount of light coming in, just flawless.Bought it for my Inspire 1 Pro drone with X5 camera and it works like a charm. Some people reports video yello artifacts with this almost tele lens, related to a badly vibrating camera mount or gimbal...
I use two systems, a Nikon D800 with a good selection of lenses and my Oly EM-1, also with a nice selection of lenses and this 45mm 1.8, in terms of intended use, compares to my Nikkor 85mm 1.4.

Not A Pro Series Lens, Not weather resistant
The lens is sharp light and very capable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an economical lens that is capable of producing quality images. The lens rarely leaves my camera bag and even though I might have more expensive lenses I still keep going back to this little winner.
This lens paired with a micro four thirds camera provides outstanding value for the image quality you're getting!
