A 17mm wide angle Micro Four Thirds lens from Olympus
Ultra wide-angle view
Very high price
This compact pancake lens sports a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture and is compatible with all Micro Four Thirds cameras. The isn't equipped with in lens stabilisation ,which is typical for pancake lenses, but Olympus camera owners will be able to take advantage of their camera's in-body stabilisation...
Although this lens may have a few shortcoming optically, and it isn't the lowest priced lens around this focal length, it will still win over many fans due to it's extremely compact and lightweight design and high build quality.
Very good sharpness overall, Good build quality, Lightweight, Compact, Reasonably priced
High levels of barrel distortion, High levels of CA
The Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm f/2.8 is a lovely little lens but unfortunately it does disappoint regarding its optical capabilities. You expect a top notch performance from a prime lens but the Zuiko isn't perfectly sharp neither at max.
Eh. Maybe it's just the format , but this lens is not exciting. I can get some sharp pics but I can get the same quality from my iPhone. It's hard to get any decent shallow depth of field either. Best feature is that it's small and makes your m4/3 camera close to the size of a P&S.
i love this lens for the fact that its 17mm and I have used it in the city and shot some sunsets with it. I prefer the 1.8 but this is a really decent lens fo the price you pay for it. Its small pancake look streamlines the camera a little bit and make it more portable which is a plus.
This lens arrived without delay. I was pleased with the price. This lens will be a Big Value in my photo shoots. Thank you.
Utterably forgettable in almost every way, yet a pancake lens that does nothing wrong. Not recommended at retail price, but something worth purchasing in the second hand market.
Pancake design, can be aquired cheaply in second hand markets.
Forgettable image quality, nothing compelling about it.
I have never really shoot a lot of primes except on my M6. I never saw the point as sharp and fast as zooms are now a days. But I was pleasently suprised at how quick I feel in love with this lens. 17mm or 34mm equvilent seems to be the perfect focal lenght for me.
Small, fast, sharp, contrsty
None what so ever
One of my favorite lenses because of the sharpness and size. Love it on PL/7, PM2, and PM1 to carry in a jacket pocket. 34mm a great general purpose focal length. I find f/2.8 very bright for these cameras for daylight shooting and some night work.
I got this lens with my E-PL3, and it is fantastic for landscapes. The f 2.8 is obviously slower than the much more expensive 17mm f 1.8, but for landscapes you don't shoot at f 1.8 at all-- you use higher f-stops of course!
I use this along with an OMD EM5 as my travel kit. Because the lens is so small I find the camera and lens combo fits in my jacket pocket, and even barely squeezes into my cargo shorts. It's convenient to go without a bag when traveling.
Bought this lens a few years ago and it stays on my camera all the time! Really like how sharp it is, and how quickly it focuses. It also gives a surprising bokeh for a 2.8 lens!
I travel a lot and having this lens in my em5 camera is the sweetest thing its compact and taking a very nice and sharp images i use this lens a lot on street photograpy, having this on my camera doesnt get a lot of attention with the people my camera looks like normal camera not like dslr that...
