After many years of satisfaction with a series of Nikon cameras and lenses, I finally found that at age 80, the Nikon gear was just too heavy for me to continue schlepping up mountains, my favorite photo environment. This flash is a fine complement to the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mk 2 I recently purchased.
As a retired professional event photographer, I know what a versital speed light does, and how it must perform. This unit is slower to synchronize with the camera than commercial flashes, incapable of communicating off camera over a radio link (optical only), and is far less powerful, less...
I have been using flash equipment for more than 30 years and with flash from Metz, Pentax, and Quantum with my 35mm film and digital cameras. So I know how to work with flash and have been using the Nikon iTTL system since it came out to trigger off caemra flash with an IR signal.
The flash is a good match to my omd em5 ii. The reason for the 4 stars is that I was expecting lower power than some big named competitors, due to size, but it turned out a little worse than I expected. Other than that, the flash works very well.
This is my second flash of the same kind - E-M1 is a splash proof camera but FL600R is not for bad weather. It was enough being on a small rain and it stopped completely working. But comparing to other flashes, this one is powerful enough while being compact for travelling ... not much choices.
in several months of occasional using it doesn't work. the test/charge is blinking constantly with new sets of batteries
This flash is an amazing product. The small compact size with great power comes with a low price tag when looking at other flashes. The buttons are easy to navigate and aren't very hard to learn. I recommend watching a YouTube video on how to learn how to use your flash.
I use 2 of these flashes with the OMD EM5 Mark II as slave flashes and umbrellas. They sync perfectly with the camera using the flash sync. Set up was very easy.
Excellent product, the build quality is amazing and the flash power its good. I use it most of the time for Macro photography and It works fine. The only complain that I have, is that I would love if the unit could be waterproof.
I'm pleased with both products so far
